Overview

We will depart from Bari at 08:30 for a day of exploring three gems of the Itria Valley.

Polignano a Mare is a coastal village famous for its steep cliffs and the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. The historic center, with its narrow streets, arches, and flower-adorned balconies, overlooks beaches like Lama Monachile. Here, we will have a stop of 2 hours and 30 minutes to explore.

Locorotondo is renowned for its circular historic center, white houses adorned with flowers, and “cummerse,” the typical sloping roofs. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of vineyards and olive groves, famous for their local white wines. We will stop in Locorotondo for 2 hours.

Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its trulli, ancient buildings with conical roofs. In the Rione Monti district, highlights include the Trullo Sovrano and the Church of Saint Anthony. As we stroll through the artisan shops and taste local specialties like taralli, olive oil, and orecchiette, we will spend 3 hours here.

After a day full of discoveries, we will return to Bari, departing from Polignano at 18:30 and arriving by 19:00.

Activity itinerary

Centro Storico di Polignano a Mare
  • 2h 30m
Polignano a Mare: Birthplace of the singer Domenico Modugno, famous for his iconic song "Nel blu dipinto di blu," Polignano enchants visitors with a historic center rich in Arab, Byzantine, Spanish, and Norman influences, seen in the remnants of the four defensive towers that once surrounded the old town. Its crystal-clear waters and cliffs carved with impressive sea caves are Polignano’s defining features, earning it the title of the "Pearl of the Adriatic." Located just over 30 km from Bari, it’s a must-visit destination.
Centro Storico Locorotondo
  • 2h
Locorotondo: This village, truly one of the most beautiful in Italy, has been awarded the Orange Flag by the Touring Club for the harmony of its forms and the accessibility of its historic center. You will be captivated by the stunning white houses, the cobbled streets paved with local stone (the "chianche"), and the elegant doorways. Another unique feature of Locorotondo is its geometrically regular houses with sloping roofs, made from two slopes of limestone slabs known as "cummerse." These charming little houses have been renovated and are now offered to visitors as part of a diffused hotel experience.
I Trulli di Alberobello - World Heritage Site
  • 3h
Alberobello was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 because it is an exceptional example of building construction using prehistoric techniques that have survived intact and are still functional in the modern world. A "trullo" is essentially a small limestone house, constructed with dry stone walls made from roughly worked limestone boulders gathered from nearby fields and topped with a conical roof. Souvenir shops, B&Bs, bars, and restaurants will enhance your stay in Alberobello.
