The walled village of Monsaraz is located atop a hill overlooking the Guadiana River and the modern Spanish border. Archaeological evidence indicates that the village has been fortified, in some form, since prehistory – understandable given its important location.

The picturesque town boasts historic monuments, traditional homes, restaurants, and a few shops. Particularly notable is the Castle of Monsaraz, built by the Portuguese King Dinis in the 14th century.

Join us on this tour to discover the enchanting medieval village and castle of Monsaraz. We’ll start by picking up everyone at the Roman Temple in Évora, then embark on a scenic 50-minute drive to the historic village of Monsaraz. Upon reaching Monsaraz, we’ll embark on a leisurely stroll through the charming village, granting you the chance to capture memorable photos and wander through its alluring narrow lanes. Visit to the interiors of the town's churches, small Fresco Museum, and the House of Inquisition are not included in the tour due to uncertainty regarding their hours, especially off-season. However, we will give visitors some free-time to explore these on their own should they wish.
