Activity itinerary

On this hike, we are going to have a beautiful day out in the Tyrolian winter wonderland while reaching the highest European Monastery - Maria Waldrast which lies at 1683m above sea level. This hike has spectacular views of the Zillertal and Tux Alps, the Patscherkofel mountain to the south of Innsbruck and the Austrian dolomites - Kalkkögel. The hike begins at the start of the cross-country skiing trail in Maria Waldrast, which runs parallel to the hiking path. The first section is up and down through open meadows towards Schön Anger and then (following the signs) along the cross-country skiing trail towards Schönberg-Mieders. After climbing over the mountain ridge, there is a further gentle uphill section to the Miederer-Ochsenhütte and then back down to the Maria Waldrast monastery. It has a wonderful cafe where the ones hungry will have a chance to try some Austrian cuisine (at own expense). Please remember that some Austrian huts still do not accept cards, so please take some cash with you. After having some lunch, coffee and appreciating the view, we are going to head down to where the pick-up is going to take us back to the hotel.
