Activity itinerary

Coyoacan
  • 1h
Coyoacán represents: “place of those who have or possess coyotes”, from three Nahua voices: coyotl (coyote), hua (possession) and can (place). The Coyoacán Center has been for many years a meeting place and refuge for artists, philosophers, writers and aristocrats. Its streets are full of stories because its constitution is woven together with the building of Mexico City, capital of this beautiful country.
Parroquia San Juan Bautista
  • 30m
Just eight years after the conquest, Hernán Cortés generously decided to grant a fairly wide range of land to a group of Franciscan friars. According to the chronicler Salvador Novo, this property was formed of cement floor, red quarry facade, walls of carved volcanic stone and even an adoration decorated with gold plate.
Museo Frida Kahlo
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
Frida Kahlo spent most of her life here, first with her family and, years later, with Diego Rivera. Interesting national and foreign characters were hosted here, attracted by the magnetism of both painters. Frida and Diego wanted to leave their house as a museum for the enjoyment of all Mexicans. Upon the painter's death, the couple's friend, the museumman and poet Carlos Pellicer, planned the museumography. Since its inauguration in July 1958, the Blue House and its gardens have exhibited personal objects and paintings by both artists, folk art, pre-Columbian sculptures, photographs, documents, books and furniture that formed the environment in which Frida was inspired to create.
University City
  • 2h
There are about 110 murals at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, but eight are the most spectacular. Space named by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in 2007, World Cultural Heritage Site and opened in 1952. On the facades of the Torre de Rectoría, the Central Library and the Olympic University Stadium look impressive, with different compositions, different ways of thinking, reliefs and materials, the works of the so-called three great of Mexican muralism: David Alfaro Siqueiros, Juan O’Gorman and Diego Rivera. The largest mural of all time, the crown jewel, made by architect and painter Juan O’Gorman, beautifies the Central Library; its four sides, four thousand square meters, are covered entirely by natural stones, 10,000 colors and weatherproof, from all states of the country.
