What you can expect

Ride to the Grand Canyon on a century-old train featuring vintage diesel locomotives pulling historic passenger cars. Along the way, recreate the Old West with a day of sights, music, sing-a-longs, history and stories as you travel back in time on the iron horse.

Start your day at historic Williams Depot and tour the gift shop or grab a filling buffet breakfast. The Cataract Creek Gang gets you into the Wild West spirit with a shootout in the outdoor theater before the train departs. Next, the train whistle blows to begin your trip to the Grand Canyon.

You arrive in the Historic District of Grand Canyon Village, where you have almost 4 hours to take in the sights. The station is close to attractions like Mary Colter's Lookout Studio and the Hopi house, and the edge of the canyon is only a few steps away.

Walk the greenway trail to the Market Plaza and visit the general store, cafeteria or gift shop. Catch the free bus to the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, where you can wander through the outdoor exhibit or watch a 20-minute film about the canyon. Don't forget to take a short walk out to Mather Point for its astounding views from the south rim.

As your day winds down, hop back on the train and watch the scenery roll by as you head back to Williams Depot.
