What you can expect

  • You can begin your ascent to the Golan Heights via Hamat Gader, situated on the southern end of the Heights, which overlooks the picturesque Yarmuk River and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

  • From the Shalom observatory, take in the stunning views of the Sea of Galilee before heading to Katzrin, the contemporary capital of the Golan. There, you can explore the impressive excavated city from the Talmudic eradating back to the 2nd to 5th centuries. The city's museum showcases various unique archaeological finds from the Golan.

  • If time permits, you can combine this part of the tour with a visit to the local winery, famous for its award-winning Gamla, Yarden, and Golan wines. Next, visit the Mizpeh Gadot memorial and view the abandoned Syrian fortifications.

  • You can choose from the following options:

a) ExploreGamla, the Masada of the Golan, which was destroyed by the Romans during the early stages ofthe Jewish revolt against the Romans in 67 CE. You can also witness the massive vultures in the Nature Reserve.

b) Observe the former Syrian fortifications on Mount Bental and take in the view of the Syrian town of Kuneitra.

c) Experience the frigid waters at the source of the Hermon River,one of the tributaries of the Jordan River at Roman Caesarea Philippi (Banias), and follow the nature trail.

d) Witness the preserved mud brick Canaanite gateway at the northernmost biblical city of Danand follow the nature trail.

e) Scale the Mameluke fortress of Kal’at Nimrod, resting on the destroyed Crusader remains, and enjoy the stunning view.
