Continue to the Forum, lined with Temples, down streets lined with fast-food businesses, entering the grand Roman bathhouse on the way. Finally, come face to face with the plaster casts of those who died in the awful eruption of Mount Vesuvius, frozen in their final moments.
After a stop for lunch, you’ll head to Naples. Naples is a beautiful town, a wonderful medley of historic influences: French, Spanish, Greek and Italian. You’ll begin by the Bay near the Piazza dei Plebisicito, with the monumental church of San Francesco de Paola. Enjoy a complimentary coffee at world-famous Gambrinus, between discovering the wonderful architecture of this area.
Then, you’ll head to the Spaccanapoli. From this Ancient Greek center of Napoli, you’ll explore all the highlights of this historic center. Enter the Baroque Gesu Nuovo and mediaeval gothic Santa Chiara, before continuing down the street. Your guide will take you into the Sansevero Chapel, rich in occult mysteries – with the evocative Veiled Christ. Enjoy viewing traditional Neapolitan crafts – including the impressive Neapolitan Nativity Scenes – on Via San Gregorio Armeno.
