Activity itinerary

Veles
  • 1h
Veles is known as an industrial center and recently, as a leader in the implementing of IT in the local administration in North Macedonia. There might not be all that much to see in Veles but the city is still worth your time, even if only for the picturesque location and beautiful views on the way from Skopje. One of the main reasons to visit Veles is one of the Yugoslav spomeniks – Kosturnica Memorial. It is located above the city and, like most of the spomeniks, it is a great example of the unique and abstract architecture of the Yugoslavian monuments from the middle of the 20th century. Kosturnica was designed by the Ljubomir Denkovic and Savo Subotin, two architects from Novi Sad, Serbia. The memorial was supposed to look like the open poppy-seed flower, the symbol of life and rebirth. The clocktower, St. Pantelejmon Church, the man made lake Mladost in Veles in Veles is another interesting attraction.
Stobi
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
Stobi developed from an old town of Paeonia and ancient Macedonia into the largest city in the north of the Roman province of Macedonia and later capital of the province Macedonia Secunda. The city reached its demographic, urban and cultural climax between the 2nd and 5th century CE. The remains of a Roman theatre, a temple, public buildings, palaces and Early Christian basilicas witness the glory of this cosmopolitan Roman city. The archaeological site is open for visitors and besides regular guided tours, it offers a free audio guide and an immersive storytelling mobile app, as well as a VR experience of a gladiator combat in the theatre. The site is managed by the National Institution Stobi.
Prilep
  • 1h 30m
Prilep is the sixth-largest city in North Macedonia. According to 2021 census, it had a population of 63,308. the city has some interesting attractions that make it worth spending time there. The center of the city is pleasant, with a large square where you can find one of the impressive monuments of Prilep, dedicated to King Marko, who ruled the area in the 14th century. Before entering the bazaar area, you will notice the slightly crooked clock tower, with a height of almost 40 meters, dating back to the mid-19th century. It was built in the Old Bazaar to replace the similar wooden structure that was destroyed by fire in 1854. Next to it, you can see the ruins of the Čarši Mosque. Originally from the second half of the 15th century, the mosque was badly damaged during the riots in the city, part of the 2001 insurgency in Macedonia. The building was deliberately set on fire. There are more monuments and sculptures.
Krusevo
  • 2h
Kruševo is a town in North Macedonia. In Macedonian the name means the 'place of pear trees'. It is the highest town in North Macedonia and one of the highest in the Balkans, situated at an altitude of over 1350 m above sea level. The town of Kruševo is the seat of Kruševo Municipality. Toše Proeski Memorial House and Grave Like Justin Bieber for Canadians if Canadians respected Justin Bieber, Toše Proeski is perhaps the most famous contemporary musician to ever come out of Macedonia. Museum of the Ilinden Uprising Though I actually never made it to this museum, it’s an important one if you find yourself in town when it happens to be open. Mečkin Kamen There are a lot of legends that live in the hills of Kruševo, but Mečkin Kamen just might be the epicenter of it all. Wander around Kruševo town. Montana Palace Hotel. Museum of the Ilinden Uprising.
Bitola
  • 3h
Bitola is a city in the southwestern part of North Macedonia. It is located in the southern part of the Pelagonia valley, surrounded by the Baba, Nidže, and Kajmakčalan mountain ranges, 14 kilometres north of the Medžitlija-Níki border crossing with Greece. If you’re searching for the life of the city, look no further than Shirok Sokak. It’s a pedestrian street that starts at Magnolia Square and ends all the way down at City Park. As the day progresses the wide walkway gradually fills up with happy locals. Hang Out at Magnolia Square and the Clock Tower. There’s not much you can’t find here. Cafés, restaurants and shops line the neoclassical buildings and several consulates call the street home. No trip to Bitola is complete without a visit to the spectacular Heraclea Lyncestis. Macedonian ruins, Greek inscription, and a Roman theatre are combined to form a jumble of history.
