This exciting journey will take you to explore two Mayan archaeological treasures Yaxchilán and Bonampak . Every day, at 5:30 AM, we will meet at the reception of your hotel in Palenque to begin our adventure.
Our first stop takes us to the “11 de Julio” restaurant, where you will enjoy a delicious included breakfast that will give you the energy you need for the day. Then, we continue our journey until we reach the pier, where we will board a boat that will take us to the Yaxchilán Archaeological Zone.
Yaxchilán Archaeological Zone not only impresses with its architecture, but also with its 124 texts inscribed on 30 stelae, 21 altars, 59 lintels and seven various inscriptions. These inscriptions tell the history of this ancient Mayan city and are an invaluable testimony of its culture. You will have time to explore the beauty of Yaxchilán and marvel at its rich history.
After the visit, you will enjoy an included meal before continuing to the Bonampak Archaeological Zone . The name Bonampak means “painted walls” in Mayan, and this site is famous for its amazing, well-preserved rock paintings. In addition to the paintings, you will find steles and lintels that will immerse you in the world of this ancient civilization.
Finally, we will conclude our tour and transfer you back to the city of Palenque, Chiapas.
