Granada
  • 4h
We will visit the Alhambra Palace where we will discover the art of a besieged kingdom, with an unstable existence. At that time, Al-Andalus did not need to shine luxury materials; the fine columns, the delicate and exuberant decorations in stucco and the Arabic calligraphy which continues today to whisper us poems centuries old, are luxury in themselves. In 1492, Boabdil delivered Granada to the Catholic Monarchs thus ending the history of the kingdom of Al-Andalus. But as we will see during this trip, these seven centuries remain indelibly present in Andalusia. After visiting the Alhambra, you will have one and a half hours of free time for lunch or to independently explore the center of Granada.

Seville
  • 8h
The morning is spent visiting the remains of the Umayyad Mosque of Abu Abbas which today is part of the Church of El Salvador. We will walk through the alleys of the Sevillian center to visit the remains of the Almohad Mosque; today the Cathedral of Santa Maria is built there, converted into the largest Gothic cathedral in Christendom. We will go up to visit its bell tower, the emblematic Giralda, which stands on the minaret of the Aljama mosque in Ishbiliya. This preserved minaret undoubtedly constitutes the apogee of the architectural tradition of al-Andalus. After the meal, we will visit the Alcazar of the Christian Kings, a real stone palimpsest on which the traces of the passage of Muslims on the peninsula still appear. The Palace of Pedro I is the most beautiful example of Mudejar art, the last echo of the Islamic master builders in Andalusia. We will finish with a panoramic visit with the Torre Del Oro, the Gardens of La Buahira and the remains of the Arab wall.
