Chiang Khong

Chiang Khong is a small town in Chiang Rai Province, Northern Thailand. It is mainly visited as a stop-off point en route to Laos and serves as the Thai counterpart to the Lao border town of Huay Xai, located just across the Mekong River. We will pass through Chiang Khong to cross the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge No. 4. You will need to take a bus to cross the border (included in the service). At the border, our driver can assist you with visa documentation if needed. You can obtain a visa on arrival (payable in cash) or use an e-visa. Please note that a passport-sized photo is required. If you do not have one, our team can assist you in getting one at the border. Once you cross the bridge, our Laos guide will be waiting for you on the Laos side.

10:00 AM: Arrive at Pak Tha for the boat permission checkpoint. Our guide will share the Do's and Don'ts in Laos, along with some fun facts. Enjoy a traditional Lao meal for lunch on the boat. Afternoon: Visit a traditional Kamu village (Ban Khmu Law), a small, cozy community of around 70 families. Travelers will learn about rural lifestyles in this remote area before continuing the journey to Pakbeng. 5:00 PM: Arrive in Pakbeng for an overnight stay (accommodation not included). Please prepare a day pack, as you will be able to leave your luggage on the boat
