The White Grotto is a sea cave located on the island of Capri, Italy. It derives its name from the white encrustations of limestone on its sides and the clusters of white stalactites that hang from the roof and edge the entrance.

At the extreme southwestern tip of the island is Punta Carena, which was once called Punta di Limmo, from the Latin limen, meaning border. We will observe this cliff overlooking the sea, about 297 meters high, near Villa Jovis. According to a legend, the Roman emperor Tiberius had the condemned thrown over the cliff who, after falling into the sea, were beaten with oars and sticks by a team of sailors, until death.
