You’ll join one of our hosts to eat your way around Seoul, stopping off at the places where locals really eat. No touristy barbeque restaurant for you! Try dishes like kalguksu, a soup made of hand made noodles and anchovy-based broth and the locally famous garlic bomb chicken stew! Practice makes perfect, and the sikdang (local restaurant) you’ll visit to sample this explosive stew has been making just this one dish for over 50 years, so it’s pretty much perfect by now. You’ll feast on mandu (dumplings) that are made the traditional, North-Korean way in a tiny Insadong sikdang where a grandma oversees the business, or try the South-Korean version in Ikseondong, a neighborhood which is famous for its Hanok-style cafe street. Try traditional street eats like rice cakes and sambo-dong hotteok, a type of pancake, made from corn dough and filled with sugar, honey, nuts and cinnamon. Just make sure you save some room - there’s that Korean barbeque restaurant to dine at. You know, the really local one where there’s not a tourist in sight and you might stand out a little - worth it for the food!
