Euromast
  • 30m
THIS AMUSEMENT WE TAKE PICTURES FROM THE OUTSIDE, WE DON'T NEED TO GO INSIDE! The Euromast was built on the occasion of the international horticultural exhibition Floriade in 1960 by architect Huig Maaskant and contractor J.P. van Eesteren built in Het Park, near the entrance to the Maastunnel. Architect Maaskant used the masting of a ship as inspiration for the design. This led to the name Euromast. The design of the restaurant with viewing platform is based on the crow's nest in a ship's mast (and sometimes also called that) from which one can look out over great distances. The restaurant was raised to a height of 100 meters by jacking in five days. The tower was equipped with a replica of a ship's bridge at a height of 32 meters, giving the public an impression of navigation equipment and a chart room. The tower is made of reinforced concrete and has a diameter of 9 meters and walls of 30 centimeters thick. To keep the center of gravity as low as possible - and thus increase.
