Join this fascinating morning tour to two of Thailand's most unique local markets - the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and Maeklong Railway Market (also known as the “Umbrella Market”).
You'll travel by minibus from central Bangkok for around 90 minutes to the south west of the city, and your local guide will tell you all about this vibrant part of Thailand before you begin exploring.
First you will visit the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which will be buzzing with life as local traders sell a wide variety of goods and food produce by the water's edge in their traditional longtail boats. You can also board a paddleboat for a small fee if you want to float instead of walk! Take in sights, sounds and smells of the market, and perhaps even pick up some snacks and bargain souvenirs.
Next, you'll head to the nearby Maeklong Railway Market, also known as the Umbrella Market. Here, traders set up their stalls around a busy train track, and have to move their stalls each time the train comes by! You can take pictures with the passing train and walk around the market looking for unique local goods.
Once you have explored the markets, you'll return to your minibus for the drive back to central Bangkok. You’ll return to Khaosan Road around 14:00PM.
