Overview

A 3-hour culinary adventure focused on 4 iconic foods of New York: Bagels, dumplings, pizza & tacos.

We travel through some of the city's most beautiful neighborhoods, exploring how these foods influenced the city, and how the city influenced these foods.

We'll make a minimum of 5 food stops, but this 'tour' doesn't follow a fixed route, instead drawing on input from the group, guide, and the city to pick a path through the rich field of options.

We cover a lot of ground on this tour, so wear comfortable shoes and prepare to see the city in a whole new light. By the end, you'll be full - heart, mind, and stomach.

Activity itinerary

First Park
  • 10m
We meet at First Park, where the grid begins, and smack in the middle of a culinary hotspot. Our first food stop is usually just a few minutes away.
Russ & Daughters
  • 10m
SAMPLE ITINERARY! We don't visit the same places every time, given the wealth of choices we have available to us. Sometimes we start at Russ & Daughters, where the bagels are good and the decor sends you decades back in time.
Lower East Side (Pass by)
From First Park, we'll head south into the Lower East Side where bagels, dumplings tacos, pizza, and street art await.
Economy Candy
  • 10m
Family-owned and operated for almost 100 years, Economy Candy is a colorful and enjoyable stop. They have candy from all over the world, and candy you might not have seen in decades. Great fun. No purchase necessary.
Kossar's Bagels & Bialys (LES)
  • 20m
The oldest bialy bakery in The United States, Kossar's has a colorful history and they make great food. If we don't stop at Russ & Daughters, and maybe even if we do, we might stop here.
North Dumpling
  • 15m
A tiny dumpling outpost on Essex Street, North Dumpling is usually buzzing. It's a fun place to grab our first round of dumplings, and we'll probably eat them on the street.
El Cabron Taqueria
  • 15m
We often stop at El Cabron, where the tacos are real and delicious. Grab a beer or a Margherita if you want!
Scarr's Pizza
  • 15m
Sometimes the line is too long, but if we hit it right, a slice from Scarr's is always a good time.
Freeman Alley - Graffiti
  • 10m
Freeman Alley is a Mecca of graffiti and street art. It changes every day. If you like bright colors and beautiful imagery, you should see it at least once.
Nolita Pizza
  • 15m
If we aren't full already, we might make our way to the exception slices at Nolita Pizza.
Jin Mei Dumpling
  • 10m
Hands down the best pan friend dumplings in New York. We gotta eat them standing on the street, but it's absolutely worth it.
Chinatown (Pass by)
We'll pass through Chinatown, take in the sights, and eat some dumplings.
Columbus Park
  • 10m
Columbus Park is a well-used and vibrant park with a rich history. We often end our tour here, or nearby.
