Know before you book

  • Tours depart every 30 minutes. 6 stops on weekdays and 9 stops on weekends
  • Trolley tour lasts 45–60 minutes. Between October and March, hours of operation are 9 AM–4 PM, and the Changing of the Guard occurs every hour. Between April and September, hours of operation are 8:30 AM–6 PM, and the Changing of the Guard occurs every 30 minutes.
  • Tours do not operate on January 11, 2020 or December 19, 2020 due to the Wreaths Across America event.
  • Arlington National Cemetery requires an ID Check with no exceptions. All US guest must provide a State or Government Issued picture ID. Visitors 16 and 17 may present a valid school ID. All foreign guest must present a PASSPORT. Foreign ID Cards will not be accepted.
  • Memorial Amphitheater, inside the Arlington House and Iwo Jima remain closed to the public.
  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Stop: The guard is changed every half hour from April 1 through September 30 at the top and bottom of the hour. The guard is changed every hour on the hour from October 1 through March 31.
  • Children 3 and younger are complimentary.

The land that is now Arlington National Cemetery has played an important role throughout American history, serving as a camp for Federal Troops during the Civil War and as a safe haven for slaves entering the free North. It began to be used for military burials in 1864. Learn about some of the 400,000 heroes, presidents, and veterans buried here, and watch the somber Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

You can move through the cemetery at your own pace, stepping off the trolley for a closer look at different stops which include:
