Leave Cluj in the morning (8 a.m. in summertime, 8:30 a.m. starting with September). Following a scenic journey, arrive at the base of the Trascau Mountains and commence the trek from Rimetea village towards the striking Piatra Secuiului Peak. Difficulty: medium Trail lenght: 6 km Level difference: +600m /-600 m Min. altitude: 525 m Max. altitude: 1128 m After approximately two hours of going uphill, we will be greeted with a panoramic view of the entire valley. From the top of the mountains, we will have a clear view of Rimetea village with its charming white houses. A little more distant, Valisoara Gorges will magically capture our attention. Descend and take a stroll through the historic streets of Rimetea, discover its fascinating history, appreciate the local architecture. Have lunch in a traditional restaurant, with Monday being the exception for picnic lunches. In the afternoon, take a leisurely stroll to Coltesti fortress. Dating back to the late 13th c., the castle is now in a state of disrepair. And it might be the perfect addition to fulfill the typical image of a vampire-filled Transylvania (but take it with a grain of salt!).
