What you can expect
Altyn Emel National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site located 220 km northeast of Almaty, is a stunning testament to the region's natural beauty and ecological significance. Spanning over 4,600 square kilometers, this expansive park is renowned for its diverse landscapes and unique geological formations. One of its most famous attractions is the Singing Dunes, a natural wonder where the sand produces a melodic hum when the wind passes over it, creating an eerie yet enchanting experience for travelers.
The Aktau and Katutau mountains, nestled within Altyn Emel National Park, are geological marvels that captivate visitors with their dramatic and colorful landscapes. The Aktau mountains display vivid hues from stark whites to deep reds, revealing millions of years of geological history. In contrast, the Katutau mountains boast rugged, volcanic terrain with surreal shapes and textures, creating an otherworldly beauty. These mountains offer a fascinating exploration of Kazakhstan's natural wonders, making them a must-visit for all travel enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
In addition, Altyn Emel National Park serves as a vital sanctuary for a variety of rare and endangered wildlife. Visitors may encounter the elusive goitered gazelle, wild onager, and a plethora of bird species, all thriving within this protected environment.
