Overview

Other than big cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, there are good old Japanese people.
The tour we propose this time will take you to areas with low population density and let you know the culture and customs of the Japanese people.

  • For that purpose, we have set one day for you to move freely in each city.
Japan is an island in the Far East surrounded by the sea on all sides, but there are also various islands scattered throughout Japan.
We think that the island tour while feeling the fresh and safe air is suitable for the present era.
We would be glad if you could take the stress of movement restrictions during the pandemic with this tour!
Of the 8 days of this tour, 3 days each in major cities in Shikoku are free plans throughout the day.

  • We support the “Western Golden Route” policy being promoted by Fukuoka City.

Make your way to the Kokonoe Yume Grand Suspension Bridge just north of the Kuju mountain range in western Oita prefecture. The bridge seems to float over the forested valley below, constructed at an impressive 777 meters off the ground. It is 390 meters long to cross from one side to the other, and takes on average twenty minutes to cross. These stats make it the longest and highest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world and as such, it offers spectacular views. From the center of the bridge, you can see two waterfalls, one of which is listed on Japan's 100 most famous waterfalls list. In autumn, the gorge here is awash in fall colors and this is a favorite spot for leaf-peepers in Kyushu.

One of the town's main attractions, the Kamihaga Residence, explores this historical industry. Yokaichi Old Town is Uchiko's preserved street of houses where most of the town's attractions can be found. This historical district looks just as it did over 100 years ago, when wealth and prosperity came to Uchiko through its wax trade. Another symbol of Uchiko is found outside of the old district: Uchiko-za is a full scale kabuki theater equipped with trap doors, hidden entrances and a rotating stage.

Cape Ashizuri Tourist Office
  • 30m
[ Day-4 ] 15:00-15:30 < view spot > Cape Ashizuri Tourism Information Center, 1349 Ashizurimisaki, Tosashimizu, Kochi Cape Ashizuri is the southernmost point of Shikoku, where the 270 degree views allow visitors to actually see the curvature of the Earth. Standing on the edge of the cliffs is Cape Ashizuri Lighthouse, one of the largest lighthouses in Japan and the symbol of the cape. An abundance of subtropical plants grow along the cape, along with many variants of camellia. There are around 150,000 bushes of these colorful flowers around the peninsula, with 60,000 of those on the tip of the cape alone. The best time to see them in full bloom is February. A 2 km-long path along the coast takes in the highlights of this rugged coastal area. Be sure to stop by Kongofuku-ji Temple, the 38th stop on the long Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. Nearby you will find the Tatsukushi and Minokoshi coasts, where you can see coral reefs and tropical fish on glass-bottom boat tours.
Sada Chinkabashi
  • 15m
[ Day-4 ] 16:45-17:00 < Unusual bridge > "Sada- chinka-bashi" Parking Lot, Sada, Shimanto, Kochi "An unusual bridge crossing the clear Shimanto River" Chinkabashi are submersible bridges designed without side rails to reduce the risk of the bridge being washed away during floods. These low, stocky-looking bridges have become a symbol of the Shimanto area, and even seem to blend into the scenery better than a traditional bridge. Though there are many chinkabashi along the river, the Sada Chinkabashi is the longest and closest to the mouth of the Shimanto. You will recognize it by its cute blue “feet.” Crossing a bridge without balustrades is a thrilling experience and allows visitors to sit on the edge, take in the scenery and dangle their feet over one of Japan's most important rivers. One of the best ways of experiencing the area is renting a bike from the closest train station (Nakamura Station) and then cycling around toward the bridge.

[ Day-6 ] 09:15-11:45 < free time and lunch 6 > Roadside Station Oboke (Lapis Oboke), 1553-1 Yamashirocho Kamimyo, Miyoshi, Tokushima [ sightseeing boat ] Fee¥1500(≒10 USD)/adult The “Oboke and Koboke Gorges” were made by the rapid current of the Yoshino River crossing Shikoku Mountains over a period of 200 million years. These gorges are eight-kilometer long and boast a beautiful landscape looking like soaring marble sculptures. There are two theories about the origin of their strange names: they are either derived from the sound of the word “Hoki/Hoke”, an archaism meaning a cliff, or “dangerous (危) to walk (歩) long (大) stride” (Oboke, 大歩危) and “dangerous (危) to walk (歩) short (小) steps, too” (Koboke, 小歩危). The Oboke Gorge has beautiful rocks and a V-shaped valley, which can be observed closely and shows how the Japanese archipelago has been formed. It makes the gorge a valuable place and was designated as a national monument.
Kotohira-gu Shrine
  • 1h
[ Day-6 ] 13:00-14:00 < guided Shrine > KONPIRA-GU, Kotohira 892-1, Nakatado, Kagawa KOTOHIRA-Gu, or, more familiarly, Kompira-san, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the guardian gods of the sea, fertility and medicine. Shinto (the Way of the Gods), is polytheistic, has its roots in ancient Japanese mythology, and strongly emphasizes love of nature, the importance of family, and physical cleanliness. During the Edo period (1603~1867), when pilgrimage was the only form of travel permitted to common folk, people dreamed of "making a pilgrimage to KOTOHIRA-Gu". Still, today, visitors to Shikoku from all over Japan make a particular point of visiting Kompira-san. A special feature of the shrine is its location - high up the eastern slope of Zozu-san (named for its profile resembling an elephant) and accessed by the purifying effort of climbing up 785 stone steps to the Gohon-Gu (main shrine) itself.

In the middle of the pine forest on a white-sand beach, there is a huge sand picture with the inscription ‘Kan’ei Tshuho’. Kan’ei Tsuho is a currency that was used in the Edo period. The sand picture is 122 m east-to-west, 90 m north-to-south, and has a 345 meter circumference. According to legend, the picture was constructed in one night as part of an effort to welcome the local rulers in 1633. It is said that if you see the picture you will live a long and healthy life, and have no problems with money. The sand picture area is off-limits, but you can look down on it from the summit observation deck in Kotohiki Park. The nice round shape is very clear from this vantage point.
