▶ Pungnammun - The South Gate of Jeonju, where you can visit Nambu Market and Sonyeosang, the "Statue of Peace", symbolizing the victims of sexual slavery by the Japanese military from approx. 1931 until the end of WWII. ▶ Jeondong Cathedral - This incredible cathedral was originally built between 1908 and 1916 to honor the Roman Catholic martyrs on the very site they perished. ▶ Gyeonggijeon - The sacred hall where the portrait of King Taejo, founder of the Joseon Dynasty, is enshrined. You'll be able to see portraits of Korea's past monarchs, relics of a bygone era, and even try your hand at making traditional artwork. ▶ Jeonju Hanok Village - Around 700 traditional Korean houses, or Hanok, are located in Pungnam-dong and Gy-dong. Here, you'll be able to wander the beautiful Hanok lined streets, boutiques and restaurants that showcase traditional craftsmanship and local flavors.
