Activity itinerary

Day 1: The Journey begins at Berg-en-Dal.
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: lunch, snacks
  • Accommodation: 5 Sleeper Chalet
Berg-en-Dal - Malelane Road
  • 12h
We begin our tour with a scenic drive to our first camp of the tour. Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp, Kruger National Park, was opened in 1984 and means 'mountain and dale' aptly named for its superb location. Great care has been taken to preserve the natural vegetation in the camp area, which comprises Malelane Mountain Bushveld (woodland), attracting a variety of grazers. The area hosts White Rhino, Kudu, Impala, Giraffe, some Elephant, Reedbuck, Klipspringer, Grey Rhebok and warthog. Leopard and Wild Dog are regularly seen in the region. Lion are usually found in the lower plains on the roads to Skukuza and Crocodile Bridge. Bird watchers will find the appeal of Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp irresistible as a wide variety of birds species can be seen here. Once arriving we check in and get settled into your chalets, then head out for a sunset drive before heading back to camp for a traditional South African BBQ (known as a braai to locals) before heading to bed for a much needed rest.
Day 2: Lower Sabie - Here we come!
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast, snacks
  • Accommodation: 2 Sleeper Bungalow
Lower Sabie Camp Road
  • 12h
After a good night rest, we wake up bright and early and enjoy a traditional English breakfast before packing up and heading to our next camp, the world famous Lower Sabie, known for its perennial Sabie River and the Lebombo Mountains beyond, which form the natural boundary and act as a highlight of the Kruger National Park. Expansive green lawns are shaded from the remorseless African sun by majestic Sycamore Fig Trees, providing the setting for a breathtaking panorama. Large numbers of game are attracted to the abundance of water, sweet grass and foliage in the vicinity of Lower Sabie Rest Camp, giving rise to a diversity of game, almost unequalled anywhere else in the Park. The area is also rich in Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Hippopotamus, Rhino and herds of Buffalo up to 800 strong, and is known for its high density of Warthog. After check-in we relax for an hour our two and head down to the restaurant for an early dinner before going on the first night drive of the tour.
Day 3: Satara - Place of the Predators
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast, snacks
  • Accommodation: 2 Sleeper Bungalow
Satara Camp Road
  • 12h
We wake up for your first bushwalk of the tour with qualified armed rangers to get up close and personal with some of the Big 5 of Southern Africa. Once returned to camp you will have a hearty breakfast waiting for you, before packing up and heading to our next camp. Satara Rest Camp is the Kruger National Park's third biggest rest camp located in the center of the Kruger National Park in South Africa and stakes its reputation on being one of the best spots in the world for viewing Lion, leopard and Cheetah due to the fertile grazing land found in the area which attracts vast herds of antelope. For this reason the camp is often referred to as the 'cat camp'. Large cats are frequently spotted in the Muzadzeni area, where a large and successful Lion pride operates. This stretch is especially productive in winter when the veld is dry, and Lion and Leopard lie waiting to ambush. Once checked in we have a cool down swim before heading out for a sunset drive followed by dinner.
Day 4: Time for the North!
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: 2 sleeper bungalow
Letaba
  • 12h
The idyllic Letaba Rest Camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River midway between the Southern and Northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park, South Africa. Letaba Camp offers excellent bird watching opportunities all year round. Pearl-spotted, Barred and Scops Owl can be spotted in camp, while the Giant Eagle Owl is regularly recorded along the river. Green Pigeon and Brown-Headed Parrot can be found high in the tree canopies. Letaba means 'river of sand' and the sandy riverbed makes for excellent game viewing, particularly Elephant, which abound in the area. Letaba Camp is a green oasis in the surrounding Mopane veld, and remains a firm favorite with holiday visitors for Kruger Park accommodation. Once checked in, we have 2 hours private time to check out the Elephant museum before heading out on a sunset drive before heading back to the camp restaurant for a well earned dinner. After dinner your guide will light a fire and pour you a glass of Marula before bed.
Day 5: The rivers run deep.
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast, snacks
  • Accommodation: 2 Sleeper Chalet
Shingwedzi
  • 12h
As the tour nears an end we have an early breakfast before driving up north to our second last camp. Shingwedzi lies in the northern part of the Kruger National Park in the heart of mopane country. A scenic game drive along the Shingwedzi River in a south-easterly direction towards the Kanniedood Dam is one of the most rewarding drives in the Park. Waterbuck, Nyala, Kudu and Elephant are often seen here and the bird life is prolific. Staying overnight at Shingwedzi is an experience that will last a lifetime. It is a rustic camp that still carries the essence of the bush and is untouched by modern technology. Experience a magical evening where the accommodation is arranged in two separate circles with the glow emanating from the braai (BBQ). After dinner we head out on another night drive with the park rangers before heading back and enjoying some local wines around the fire pit while taking in the sounds of the Hyena, Lion and Leopard who are on the daily hunt.
Day 6: All Good things come to an end.
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast, snacks
  • Accommodation: 2 Sleeper Bungalow
Punda Maria - Shingwedzi Road
  • 12h
We wake up early and have breakfast before heading to our final rest camp of the tour - Punda Maria. The name of the rest camp was given in 1919 by the first ranger to be posted to the area, Captain JJ Coetser. He mistakenly named his post Punda Maria in the belief that this was the Swahili name for Zebra which was the first big game he saw on arrival. The correct Swahili name is actually 'punda milia' (meaning Striped Donkey). Nevertheless, large herds of Elephant and Buffalo roam the Mopane-covered plains and Rare Tsebbebe and Sable are frequently sighted from this Kruger National Park lodging. After arriving at camp we check in and have 2 hours relaxing time before heading out on the final sunset drive to soak up the Kruger landscape and find all the wildlife we have missed so far, before heading back to our final braai and a good night rest before our 5 hour transfer back to your hotel.
