- 250 Scout Ranch Rd, Boulder Creek, CA 95006, USA | From Santa Cruz: Take Highway 9 north to Boulder Creek (approximately 14 miles or 30 minutes). After passing through downtown Boulder Creek, turn right on Bear Creek Road. The Scout Reservation is approximately 1.2 miles down Bear Creek Road on your right. Look for a large wood sign that reads “Boulder Creek Boy Scout Reservation”. From Saratoga: Highway 9 begins at the west end of Saratoga Avenure in downtown Saratoga. Take Highway 9 south to Boulder Creek (approx 20 miles or 40 minutes). Just before reaching downtown Boulder Creek, turn left on Bear Creek Road. The Scout Reservation is approximately 1.2 miles down Bear Creek Road on your right. Look for a large wood sign that reads “Boulder Creek Boy Scout Reservation”.

What you can expect
Set among the beautiful redwoods of Santa Cruz and Marin, the 1-Day Wilderness Skills Clinic is a great way to escape the hustle-and-bustle of the working week and get back to nature! The trained instructors – expert survivalists and naturalists – are excited to share these sacred skills with you. Learning these timeless traditions, such as native shelter building and fire-by-friction, helps to build self-esteem and awareness from knowing that you can survive!
This class is 100% hands-on and appropriate for all ages but the pace is geared towards teens and adults. Everything you learn, you will do yourself! Be prepared for your next wilderness adventure by practicing timeless skills including building a shelter, making fire, learning about edible plants, making native style traps, and learning several other indigenous skills.
This 5-hour class is about getting back to the earth, learning how our ancestors lived in harmony with the planet, and experiencing nature to its fullest. There is something here for everybody – come with an open mind and be ready to learn!
