Brewster

In the heart of Cape Cod, this town combines beachfront and rural neighborhoods with genuine Old New England culture.

Whether you plan on coming to Cape Cod annually or are visiting just once, Brewster is an ideal place to begin your adventure. Swim in the ocean or stroll down grass-lined streets past quaint estates and second homes. Sit near a quiet stream or play mini golf. Wake up every morning with many great choices for the day’s activities.

Experience the beauty of Nickerson State Park. Glacially formed kettle ponds and densely forested areas with hiking and biking trails make this an excellent place for an outdoor adventure. Camp, bike or fish for trout.

Beautiful New England beaches line the northern edges of Brewster. Paine’s Creek Beach is an intimate setting with dazzling sunset views. Its large area lets you avoid crowds and make your beach experience feel exclusive. For swimming and traditional beach lounging activities, try the sandy Breakwater Beach, which has permit parking. Spend the day sunbathing and cooling off in the water.

Aside from the beach and outdoors, Brewster is filled with family attractions. Deepen your knowledge of the marshlands with a session at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. While you’re here, enjoy gorgeous views while walking along the trails extending from the back of the museum to the beach along backchannels.

For a unique Cape Cod outdoor experience, follow the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Formerly a railroad right-of-way, this trail stretches 22 miles (35.4 kilometres) through six different towns. Rent a bike at one of several locations along the trail and cycle over miles of paved pathways through the green landscape. Bring a bathing suit in case you decide to take a swim where the trail meets the ocean or a lake.

To reach Brewster, drive 47 miles (76 kilometers) east around the Cape from Plymouth, Massachusetts. Fly into Boston Logan International Airport and drive 87 miles (140 kilometers) or into Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis and drive 17 miles (27 kilometers). Charming inns and other accommodations provide welcoming lodgings for an extended stay.
