We really enjoyed our short stay at Villa Carmen. The location, village, and facilities at the accommodation made it a great holiday. most important was the service and the smile. We want to thank the family who run the villa for their hospitality and kindness. We also heard about the boat excursion run by their related company and took a wonderful day trip to 3 local islands.

Happy Stay

Excellent situation for Dubrovnik or for beaches. Small pool but good. Didn’t eat there so can’t comment but all looked good. Carmen and Doris very skilled in looking after guests.

Amazing view from the terrace and wonderful hospitality. Not the most modern rooms and breakfast was rather pricy. Also, don't forget that you can only pay cash, they don't take credit cards.

Location is perfect, close to the beach and supermarket. Both Carmen and Doris are very welcoming and communication is very quick and easy. The room itself is basic and clean.

Excellent location, friendly people!

Pros: The location, the people, the cleanliness
Location: Several bars, restaurants, supermarkets, the port, several beaches, the bus stop to Dubrovnik and Cavtat
We had a lovely stay at the Villa Carmen. Carmen herself is a very friendly and helpful person, as is her sister Doris. The location of the Villa Carmen is fantastic, as it is so close to the beach, as well as being close to the harbour, so you can easily get to Dubrovnik, Cavtat and Lokrum. Our room was really clean and tidy with a wonderful terrace overlooking the bay. There is a small supermarket and also a larger shopping centre all within walking distance, as well as a few bars and restaurants. Carmen herself has a restaurant two doors along from the Villa Carmen, which serves lovely food with a great view of the bay. She also runs a travel company called Vivado, so you can arrange tours and boat trips etc with her, without having to wait at the port. Everyone we came across was incredibly friendly and helpful and the weather was great(14th - 21st October) so this just topped off a wonderful holiday!

The Lovely Villa Carmen

Posted 6 Sep 2017
Pros: The setting was beautiful and clean. It is very close to the beaches and restaurants.
Cons: Nothing they couldn't do enough
Location: There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, the beach is across the road. You can get a boat or bus close by into Dubrovnik.
The Villa Carmen and the owners are so nice and really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend booking direct with Villa Carmen. Do not book through Expedia!

Perfect Location - Hostel like facilities.

Pros: The Pool + location.
Cons: The rooms. They were appalling. I don't expect a lot. The room we had was dark, tiny and very dated. The bathroom was at the back of the room, it had
Location: Cavtat and Dubrovnik are both really nice places. There is also a really interesting place called Kupari, 10 minute walk from Mlini - abandoned resort
The location is fantastic, you can get an Uber to either Dubrovnik or Cavtat in 10-15 minutes. The 'apartment' is about 30 seconds walk to the nearest pebble beach - lovely small cove. Local restaurants are really nice also, food is very good but prices are still in line with what you expect to pay at other two locations. The rooms, they were rather dire - The room we had was dark, tiny and very dated. The bathroom was at the back of the room, it had a shower curtain which was far too long and just laid in the tray, a toilet and a sink. Hot water tank needed to be switched on for hot water - barely got 2 short showers out of the tank. Luckily we had one suitcase between us, because if we had two, not sure where we would have put it. There was a massive fridge - which was great for storing water - but since there were no other self catering equipment, not sure what else you could use it for. (Not even a plate or a knife/fork). Also, I suggest bringing your own towel. The towels provided were from 1960 and you needed to be quite strong to bend them round you and they were extremely rough. All in all, the fantastic location and pool is let down by the poor accommodation. The facilities are more in line with a hostel as oppose to holiday accommodation. In fact some south american hostels I've stayed in were more appealing. If you want a decent location for a couple of days, this would be ok - any longer, then try somewhere else.
