Travel Guide
Zandvoort which includes street scenes
Discover this relaxing seaside resort and enjoy the sun, the sea and the beach. It's also the perfect base for a day trip to Haarlem or a day in the dunes.

Zandvoort is a popular destination thanks to its long beaches, race track and proximity to quaint little cities such as Haarlem. Zandvoort also borders on an expansive nature reserve, perfect if you want to combine your beach trip with a walk in the woods and heath.

Zandvoort has been inhabited since the 12th century. It was once known as ‘Sandevoerde’ and didn't become a seaside resort until the 19th century The village was almost fully destroyed in the Second World War by the Germans to make room for bunkers and launch sites. After the war and a period of reconstruction, Zandvoort has become a cherished seaside resort with loads of sights and things to do.

Looking for something fun to do in Zandvoort for the whole family? Combine your day at the beach with a visit to the Jutters mu-Zee-um and discover what has washed up on the beach over the years. The Zandvoorts Museum has a special collection of local history and art.

Race lovers will be able to see the only race track in the Netherlands, Circuit Park Zandvoort, that holds regular events and competitions. Are you a nature lover in search of peace and quiet? National Park Zuid-Kennemerland is where it’s at. Hire a bicycle and explore the area or go on long walks in the woods and the dunes.

End the day with an evening of great food and entertainment in the charming little city of Haarlem.

Zandvoort has a station and an extensive network of local buses which is great if you're travelling by public transport. You can also hire a bicycle and cycle to Haarlem or the dunes. You can park at any one of the parking garages or along the beach for a fee. Parking is free outside the city centre if you don't park at the beach. You can take the train or bus to Zandvoort from Haarlem. If you're travelling by car Zandvoort is a 40-minute drive from Alkmaar.

Great stay
"My partner and I only stayed one night, the room was fairly small to fit luggage, however the bed was comfortable and conditions were good. We did not have their breakfast but it looked good, if we stayed longer we would have had it."
