We enjoyed our stay at Hoteiya. The staff were kind, knowledgeable, and very attentive. There was a shuttle to and from the Yufuin JR station that was an easy phone call to arrange. The facilities were sparkling clean. We liked the different bathing areas. We didn't have dinner but we loved the breakfasts, which were different every day. The town of Yufuin is breathtaking. It has interesting tourist destinations and good food. Aside from spending time in the onsen, our favorite part of this trip was visiting neighboring Beppu, which was easy to access via the bus stop in front of the resort. Altogether, we had an amazing time and hope to return someday.

Best honeymoon stay
Posted 12 Apr 2024 on HotelsThis was one of the best experiences from our honeymoon. The staff was so nice and accommodating. Most staff spoke fluent English and were helpful in getting us a taxi and helping us with anything else we needed. Breakfast was traditional and incredible.
I would recommend to anyone to stay here!

Posted 19 Feb 2024 on HotelsWe stayed at Hoteiya to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday, and it was our best experience yet! I am so thankful that we were able to stay in this ryokan. Four generations, from my 2-year-old daughter to my grandmother in her 90s, still talk about how wonderful our stay at the ryokan was, and of course, all other family members loved it too. We stayed in the Fuji room, which was spacious, extremely clean, and very well-maintained. Both the indoor and outdoor hot springs were amazing. Outdoor one is definitely enough for 4 people.
Everyone who worked there was top-notch and friendly. We love traveling in many countries, but I have never met this super friendly receptionist ever in my life!(She has short hair)
I had seen some negative reviews about their kaiseki, but after experiencing it, I felt that it was a huge waste of my time. Each course was super tasty and extremely fresh, with a wide variety, and the portion sizes were perfect, even for my husband. Everyone was so impressed with the food. If we visit again, we will definitely stay for more than one night and, obviously, go back to Hoteiya.

Overall, the stay was okay and not bad. However, in terms of food and service, I would say the hotel was average at best and not at par with the pricing.
