Good hotel but no English speaking staff

Pros: Clean, great pools, large room
Cons: If someone on the staff could speak English, that would be helpful
Location: 20 minutes drive from Sun Moon Lake
The hotel itself is nice, over a large area, With a cold and hot pool, and grounds to walk through. Our family room was big and clean. However, the stairs to get from the parents's bed to the children's loft were uncomfortable and a bit scary to climb down.
The staff did their best to help but since none spoke English, we could ask for practically nothing.

Disappointing stay at resort

Pros: Nothing much. Definitely won't go back again.
Cons: Many things. See details above.
Location: Nothing around the area. Fortunately we had a minivan during our trip. Took a 20-30 minute ride to the lake area for dinner and some shopping.
Location was far from the main Sun Moon Lake. Guess it's more of a resort getaway where you stay at the resort to bbq, swim, etc. Kinda more suited for locals for a getaway than for tourists who want to do some sightseeing. Suggest to look for a property on one of the 3 piers at the lake.
Duplex unit not recommended. Only 1 toilet. The 6 of us had to take turns using the 1 toilet which was quite time-wasting. Room and corridor had musky/stale smell.
Not like a hotel with concierge staff assisting you with luggage and all.
No value for money. Seems quite pricey as compared with other properties in and around Taiwan.
