Close to York!
Posted 10 Dec 2017Just outside of York minutes from Grimston Car Park shuttle service. Attached restaurant that included traditional English Breakfast in the morning. Helpful staff. Enjoyed our stay!

Good, quiet hotel

Pros: The staff were all extremely friendly, the room was quiet and comfortable and the food in the restaurant very good.
Cons: Hot water in our room on the first day was scaldingly hot, but workmen were already in place to deal with this and later .there was no problem.
Location: The hotel was ideally placed, close to main roads, but still quiet. We visited Castle Howard and spent a day exploring York. Park and Ride was nearby.
We stayed in the area to visit our grandchild at York St John's University and this hotel suited that purpose admirably.

Good pub hotel, excellent staff, would stay again

Pros: The staff were great and the food was good and the room was fine with a good bathroom shower.
Cons: the coffee needs improving. It was weak and tasted of nothing.
We stayed at this pub hotel with friends from the US. We were all travelling around UK and this stop was to see a bit of Yorkshire. This hotel is near York and not far from a Park and Ride which was very useful to get into York itself (York is a wonderful city to visit). We also visited Pickering and Whitby as well as the North York Moors. So the location of this hotel was very good for all those visits.
We were made very welcome by the staff and enjoyed their breakfasts each morning we were there.

Room is clean and staff is very friendly. Just the TV is quite small.
