"Another magical stay at Li River Resort, and it won't be my last. Their excellent food is some of the best in town and their wonderful warm and accomodating staff are second to none. The rooms are comfortable and stylishly done. Many offer heavenly views. All of this, plus great rates and a location that strikes the perfect balance between serenity and access make this hotel a perfect 10. Without being cold or pretentious, the hotel is elegant, inviting and intimate with noticeable attention to detail paid at every turn. Perched high on the bank of the Li River fantastic mountain views make for a magical and impactful sense of place and memorable outdoor dining. An easy 20 minute walk that winds peacefully along the river, down the narrow country road, will take you directly to the boat landing and all of the action of bustling West St. If you don't feel like walking, there is a hotel shuttle, or you can get a taxi for less than $5."

"Fantastic staff! They were warm and friendly. They have a lot of services that make your stay convenient and enjoyable. The pool was large and it overlooks a rice paddy. Pretty cool! Breakfast was delicious and the scenery from there was even more spectacular! The ro was spacious and had all the mod stuff and the decorations were well thought out. Well worth the stay"

"Beautifully appointed rooms with high windows, A/C, comfortable beds, and a fantastic English speaking host, Demi. We loved the “Western Breakfast” b/c after 2 weeks of continuous Chinese food we were really craving a break. Eggs, waffle, juice, coffee really hit the spot. I can also vouch for the Muesli over yogurt. The pizza is “different” but I still enjoyed. There is an enterprising coffee shop up the road serving espresso drinks with dogs and country western music. Take the hike to Moon hill."

"Yangshuo City has become a big tourist hub (mainly Chinese tourists). The Yangshuo Mountain Retreat is a short taxi (electric scooter ride) to Yangshuo and the surrounding attractions, but sits on a quiet bend of the picturesque Yulong river (almost rivals the Li River Karst tower area in beauty and is a lot less busy). During the day a number of the bamboo rafts with one of two folks floating down the river go by. A night their grass riverfront restaurant is bucolic. The staff speak good English and seem especially understanding of Western tourists. I would definitely stay here again."

"The Tea Cozy Hotel was recommended to us by someone who lives in China and has been here several times - it was a great recommendation. My wife, daughter and I stayed at the TC for 6 nights in April. The hotel is a small, privately owned, establishment; it is clean, comfortable and has a delightful pool. The food is great and good value (as are the beer and wine), and the location of the hotel is very convenient for the river, walks and Jangshuo. But the best thing about the hotel is the staff - every member of staff we met was helpful, good humoured, charming and spoke good English. The service was very helpful and personal. Strongly recommended."
