Have stayed at the Barceló Maya Palace three time in the last few years and we enjoy our stay every time. This time the resort was busy with a lot of families and was a little noisy but there is always room at the beach to sit and relax. The Palace is showing its age but still stands out as one of the nicer resorts in the Maya. The staff were generally happy and accommodating, while the bar staff at Coco bar were surly, they got the job done. The lobby bar, Carey, can get very noisy when it fills up with families, with lots of kids running around and screaming. Buffets were very busy but the staff are vey quick to get things ready for the next guest. Food was good with different dishes each night but the menu hasn't changed much in years. All the restaurants at the Palace are top notch and they prepare the food very well. All in all we had another great vacation at the Barcelo Maya Palace.

We have been to the Barcelo many times. First time we’ve had difficulty booking ale art dinners! The colonial / Tropical Buffet is superior to palace buffet as far as selection and freshness! Francisco (French restaurant) went above and beyond to make our dinner amazing and even got us in for a second time

We didn’t like the long distance between the main building (lobby & restaurants). It’s too long for seniors or people with disabilities! They should have transportation service with electric cars, like in some airports!

We stayed at the Barcelo Maya Palace in November 2024. The property is very nice and well maintained. There are lots of activities to do, but many include extra charges, including the pirate water area (including the surf boarding), bowling and mini putt. The buffet at the Palace was disappointing to us. The food was sometimes overcooked and dry and the service from staff was sometimes slow. The buffet at the Tropical/Colonial was much better and we found ourselves going there for lunch. The property for this resort is huge. If you plan on going from resort to resort you'll want to take the bus, which comes every half hour, so you need to plan accordingly. Overall we had a great time and would go back again.
