This once grand old lady is well past her prime. They didn't have our Expedia reservation right in terms of number of rooms, but fortunately I had a print out to show what I had booked. I still had to pay again for an already prepaid reservation (later sorted out with AMEX and Expedia), but it took us 40 minutes to check in. It was a frustrating experience, even though the girl at the desk was wonderful. But she had to keep calling her manager who never showed up. The rooms we booked were junior suites. The were large, and decorated in a style that is supposed to resemble a Spanish mission. They were true to their origin in that there were no electrical outlets anywhere, not at the desk, not at the night stands. These rooms are designed for real missionary travelers, writing with goose quills and communicating by carrier pigeon. Although we could connect to the hotel's wifi, the wifi was never connected to the internet. Yet, if the whole experience resembled a throwback of what 18th century travelers must have felt like, that also applies to the personnel. Super friendly, helpful, cordial, just super nice.

I had booked two rooms for two days through Expedia, both pre-paid. The hotel had us booked for 3 rooms with only one room paid. Fortunately, I had printed out my Expedia receipts. After endless conferring with the manager, the girl at the desk (who was super-nice by the way) took off the third room, but insisted I pay again for one room, which I did (sorted out later). The rooms were large (junior suites), but the decor is very dated, supposedly resembling a Spanish mission, but just looking grotty. There were no electrical outlets at the desk or at the nightstands, so charging our phones and computers was problematic. The windows are thin and even on the 5th floor, the street noise was quite audible. Breakfast was very basic, just before me somebody finished the last of the yoghurt and I was simply told that was it, they had no more. The one redeeming factor of this hotel was the personnel, all super friendly and professional.

We stayed on the 4th floor and the hallway only had two motion-sensor lights (one at each end). My room was in the middle of the hallway, and by the time I would reach my door, the light would be off. I also had to ask them, several times, to heat up the jacuzzi before they sent somebody. The bathroom shower didn't seem well cleaned.
