Cabin was very clean and user friendly. All necessities were present as marketed. It was a little off season so it was quiet and pleasant. Will stay here again. Was a little disappointed that after making reservation was notified that there were no pet friendly rooms available.

Primitive and uncomfortable

Cons: Total cleaning is necessary. Get rid of old, outdated furniture.
Pros: The cabin experience was nice in itself. The surrounding forest and accompanying sounds were peaceful and we were minutes from downtown.
Cons: The Birchcliff Cabin was a glorified camping experience. Unfortunately, the cabin had dead bugs on the mantle of the fireplace and on the carpet from the minute we walked in the door. Somehow wasps and other insects found their way into the cabin even though the doors and windows during our visit. I felt an overwhelming itchiness constantly while in the bed although there were no bed bugs (it must have been the dust mites). Also the living room couch was dingy. I placed a bed sheet over it before I would sit on it. I would not stay at this resort again unless I wanted to feel like I was camping.

Never again
Posted 25 May 2015I wanted to try something different and stay in a cabin instead of one of the bigger resorts. Big mistake, if I thought we could have received a refund we would have left and stayed elsewhere. The owners are confusing rustic & old time with dirty & unkept. We couldn't use the shower, black mold (which was painted over), couldn't use the pool it had to be fixed, couldn't use the fire place the tiles were loose ( this was their request), couldn't use the TV the cable wire was stripped and laying on the floor. I had to wipe everything down upon arrival, cobwebs galore, the beds had no box spring just a wooden box for a frame ( an unwelcome trend in the Dells I'm afraid). Torn furniture, burnt out light bulbs, left over food in the sink drain. We couldn't stand this place, we stayed away until we felt we could go to sleep. Meanwhile the owner Brian left town for Memorial Day weekend, I hope he had a better vacation than we did.

Peaceful, but close to Attractions
Posted 6 May 2015 on HotelsI wanted to get a way to a quiet relaxing place. The hiking trail was beautiful, as was the secluded sand beach. The cabins are definitely vintage, so nothing fancy, but the room was very clean and the owners were very accommodating. There isn't daily room service, so you are left in peace but if you asked for anything they were happy to help. There was wifi service, though it was limited in range from the office area. I could get cell phone service ok. The choices in TV channels were limited to local stations, but that wasn't really important considering how nice it was outside. I will definitely return. Oh, and if you wanted to go where some action was, downtown was only a five minute drive away, as were many of the attractions and lots of choices for dining.
