Nothing to do and over priced. Train went by cabin 3 all night long. Everything closed at 8 and even the game room. Very small cabins with no bathroom. Will never stay again

This is a real gem. It is small but very accomodating. Love seeing the families enjoy themselves and seeing everyone walking their dogs. Very friebdly. Wish it hadn’t rain but our daughter still had a great time at the game room and the free ice cream. Wish the ac worked better in the game room amd bathrooms but they were not terrible so I still give them a good review. We stayed in the apprentice cabin and it was very nice and comfortable-exept the queen bed could have used a spring base instead if the wood box used in a lot of camprounds. Makes for a very achy night sleep. Remember an airmatress and hopefully it won’t slide off but would have been nice. other than that this is an awesome lovation with all kinds of places to see all around. And one special treat believe it or not was the train track right behind our cabin. The train track runs some feet away from the camp but I absolutely loved the trains. I thought it was fun to see what kind of train it was and our dogs didn’t even mind it. I could hear them at night and didn’t ebother me then either. What a lovely place to go see. It is tiny, look at the website , but it is a hit with our family.

We rented one of the cabins at Anvil and my family was a little nervous about my plans - camping, dry cabin, grilling dinner... Immediately, my family fell in love and is eager to stay at Anvil again next year. Their story is amazing and I have enjoyed sharing it. The campground was small and very quaint but had all the things to keep everyone busy; rain or shine. They also worked very hard keeping everything so clean! Many thanks to their team!

everyone was extremely nice and helpful !! can tell it is a family run business. bathrooms awesome, sites way above average in layout etc. even pool table in arcade… would have put cabins away from rr tracks, commuters ok, but the 1-3 min coal trains woke me up every time both nights. :-( for the extra cost vs. test site in same area not really get full value of renting a cabin, btw cabin were very nice! would go again but likely with my popup..

Photos are a little deceiving. Idk we’re the red cabins are, didn’t see them, but we did stay in a spacious bungalow. Very clean! Grounds were kept very nice. People were very friendly. Nice front porch with picnic table, another table with 4 chairs, bench swing, grill and a fire pit. Cement parking space. Plenty of swings and stuff for kids. They can ride their bikes around property without worry. We had a pleasant stay! Would gladly stay again if the beds and pillows weren’t so hard. One other thing. The train tracks are right behind the camp grounds. So if you don’t like loud noises when your sleeping. I myself love the sounded the train!

Thanks for supporting our small family business and our staff! We do not have any red cabins, so not sure where you saw pictures of red cabins, but that wasn't any pictures of us! :) Thanks for the visit and hope you all have a great weekend and visit again!

My grandsons 5 and 7 had a wonderful time. The camp ground was just perfect for us . The train was not a problem at all the boys loved it. Very clean and well kept, everyone very helpful and pleasant. Will come back and would recommend to grand parents that want to make a great memory.

The campground was clean enough, and the bathrooms were clean at times. Certainly not "cleanest in the world" as advertised. The cabin itself was clean but the mattresses were SO uncomfortable. We have stayed in many cabins like this and I have never had such bad back pain that lasted for days. Worst of all though is the train that passes about 15 ft from the cabin all night long. I did get an email about this a few days before our reservation "warning" us, but this was after I could get a refund. We would have never stayed here knowing it would be two sleepless nights in a row. Shame on Anvil for not being up front.

Wow. You wrote a similar review on another site. Before we start, it is shocking that you have nothing positive to say about our facility, staff, management, professionalism, location, fun, etc. We received near perfect reviews on our log cabins and our park. We are a top lodging establishment in Williamsburg. Never have we had a guest write this kind of a review, especially in two places. You all are acting like you are out to get us. Anvil and our staff are as nice as it comes, a strong, small family business, so your efforts are attacking really good people. We wish we could have worked something out in person or prior to your arrival, but we had no idea you felt this way. We were never informed. When we replied on Facebook, we thought this was behind us both, but here we are again. Let’s answer your allegations again: - You received an e-mail about the train immediately when booking; it states if you want to cancel, we will refund your money a.s.a.p., so the statement that you could not get a refund, just is not true. Also, we have been here 68 years, if the train was that bad, we would not still be in business. That is a fact. - Shame on Anvil? This is a first and definitely strikes a nerve. We are human and work as hard as possible to please our guests with our prepping and planning before a guest arrives and effort while our guests are here. Your take is just so off and does not represent the guest experience in our log cabins or at our park. - Especially the being up front part, when we clearly are up front. Even with us being up front, your issues are only issues for you all and have not been found to be an issue for others. - The train is farther than 15ft from the log cabin and for nearly everyone it is not an issue at all. That goes for all ages. Nearly all of our cabin guests are repeat guests and in June our log cabins were booked exactly 88.89% of the time. Those facts support that statement. - Our cleanliness has never been brought into question, never. We are praised up and down everyday about how clean we are. How could we possibly be cleaner, when we deep clean everything constantly? Yes things can get dirty from all the guests we host from time to time, but we are there to clean up to the highest standards as soon as humanly possible. - The mattresses are 4 inch cabin mattresses, you cannot get a thinker cabin style mattress. Prospective guests, please consider all of our reviews across the internet and not just this outlier. It just does not represent Anvil at all. Meghan, we wish you and your family happy days and lots of health. Sorry you all did not have a good time. We always do our best, we expect the best for our guests; this review is such a shame.

When booking the room it states that there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. However that’s is not the case. The restroom is not in the cabin but you have to walk to it. I did receive an email stating that the restroom was not in the cabin but was “super close” so we thought it Wally’s be a good experience but that also was not the case. There were 2 cabins relatively close to the restrooms but that was not ours. Even though one of them were empty the whole time of our visit we were not offered that cabin. 2 days after that we received and email that there was a train that ran behind the cabin at various times throughout the say which was no issue, but it didn’t say that I could have reached out the cabin and touched it. It wasn’t only the noise but the whole cabin shakes every time the train went by so no sleep was found. They also don’t tell you that the mattress are only a 2 inch thick plastic covered piece of foam. The place is pretty clean which is good and the game room is nice but it closes at 6. We checked out early and asked for a refund but was denied. We went to a hotel that was cheaper and much nicer. We would not return if you are looking to ruffing it at an elaborate price this is the place for you. Also be aware there are cameras all over the place on the campground.
