Super friendly and helpful staff. Great room and bathroom. Walkable to Westcliff and Southend train stations and Cliffs Pavillion. Great views of the water. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in need of updating . Rusty rads, discoloured baths, old sanitary ware, curtains falling apart with holes and everywhere needs a deep clean. Or any clean in fact !

Pleasant stay at the Muthu, after attending a wedding at the nearby Cliffs Pavillion a 3 minute walk away. Hotel room was clean and comfortable, staff were polite and efficient.

So convenient. 2 min walk to the Pavillon for our show. Lobby and dining area very nice. Bedroom could do with updating but clean and comfortable. Great value, good breakfast included. Was perfect for our needs . Would definitely stay again. Dining not available Sunday evening but restaurants nearby .

Very convenient for show at Cliffs Pavilion. Reasonably priced. Pleasant staff. Lovely breakfast.

To begin with, I was happy with the service staff when checking in.
However, the rooms have no real soundproof, everything creaks and bangs when being walked on. You can hear people above snoring, talking, and generally moving around.
Some of the guests were loud and disrespectful late at night.
The room decor and cleanliness was pretty good, but it's an old dated building that needs some investment desperately.
To top off an unpleasant stay, the fire alarm went off at 3.20am
No real apologies or offer of any compensation for a real inconvenience for a one night stay.
I simply couldn't sleep, which is the whole point of booking a hotel. Needless to say, I checked out at 5.40am and drove home.
I would not recommend this hotel, or stay here again!

I loved where the property is located next to the sea front and the decor is my style very classic would definitely book again
