We frequently visit Sedona and were excited to try this establishment. Upon checking in we were greeted by a very nice and professional gentleman at the front desk. He advised us our room was not quite ready but offered us a drink and a key to the pool where we could relax until our room was ready. Once our room became available the staff stopped by the pool and advised us our room was ready. We proceeded to head to the room and accessed our room with the key that was provided to us. Walked in to the room and were very pleased with the layout. 30 minutes later the owner of the establishment stops by and condescendingly states “ I was looking for you, you never checked in”. We advised him we were provided keys by the front desk. This is where we became truly disappointed with the situation. Rather than discussing the misunderstanding the owner of this establishment continues with the accusations and states “no, you didn’t”. I advised him “ the front desk provided us this key”. Once again he states “no he didn’t, you’re not checked in”. I once again kindly stated “here is the key we were provided”. And again He states “no”. At this point we simply told him not a problem, we will follow you and process anything we are needing”.

Dear Juan,This is the owner of the Sunset Chateau responding with disappointment to your 1 star review. We want you to know that you never had any interaction with the owner, as you incorrectly stated in your review and we don't appreciate being slandered based on assumptions. We were out of town during your recent stay-over, and the only other person you may have interacted with is our evening worker, who was simply doing his job and following standard hotel protocol by asking you to officially check in at the front desk. As you arrived earlier than check-in, our main front desk worker graciously gave you one of your room keys in advance of check-in to use the pool while you were waiting for your room to be ready. Rather than returning to the office to check-in as required, you chose to go directly to your room without checking-in for a one-night stay, where we wouldn't have had ample opportunity to check you in at a later time. Although you were admittedly well received upon checking in with our main front desk worker who offered you drinks by the pool, you intentionally circumvented the front desk and never gave us a credit card to check-in. In our opinion, you left an inappropriate and overly harsh review based on a brief interaction with a secondary worker who merely asked you to officially check. It certainly appears that you enjoyed your suite and overall stay with us, for which we are very happy to hear. If our evening worker was in any way unpleasant with you, we sincerely apologize, as this would be entirely out of character for him, as he is a very kind and honest person who seeks to do his very best on the job. I was extremely disappointed in my chose to stay here. I have stayed in Sedona many times and thought this place looked really nice online. I was completely shocked to see how different it looked in person. Grounds, pool, hot tub, furniture was run down and old. Items of decor needed repair. Looked old. Room was thrown together as if someone purchased items from a garage sale. I couldn't decide the decor. Some Italian, Southwestern, Mexican, Grammas old collectable. Our room was next to a contractors site with only a gate separating it. Breakfast was the only pleasurable part of this overpriced night. Disappointing

Dear Ellen, it is with sadness that I as the owner of A Sunset Chateau am responding to your very harsh review in which you portray our B&B in a most negative light. You suggest that the decor in your room was of subpar quality, when nothing could be further from the truth. My husband and I are professional painter/sculptors/designers, who have exhibited our works in museums in Paris, where we lived for many years. As an artist, I took the liberty to place many of my paintings in each of the suites, as well as executed all of the many murals and sculptures found throughout the property. In your suite, I not only showcased my own personal artwork, but selected many other original prints that we collected throughout our travels, all of which are of the finest quality. Regarding the furniture in your suite, (and many other of our suites), we commissioned a local, skilled carpenter/sculptor, to make one of a kind, original southwest furniture, which adds to the unique charm of our suites. We are a family run business and I can assure you that we take great pride in providing our guests with the utmost excellence, whether it concerns the room decor, our lush, park-like grounds, as well as our gourmet breakfasts, skillfully created by our son who is a gourmet chef. If you were perhaps upset by something else which took place during your one night stay over and this is the reason for your harsh review, please feel free to contact us as our goal is that all of our guests enjoy to the upmost their stay with us, and we welcome any and all honest criticism. They really did a great job at this place. Unlike hotel chains, they cleaned every morning. We were never out of soap, towels and other necessities. The bed was very comfortable and the ceiling fans help distribute the air conditioned air. The view from the entrance porch was awesome.

The staff weren’t very friendly. The guy at the desk seemed to have a little attitude.
