I have stayed here befor many years back and heard it had new ownership. The front of house staff are very helpful and know the town like the back of their hand. Only stress was the office is run by video call after the dayshift ends from people in new york. Kinda cool way to enter this classic hotel with an empty front desk. You follow instructions and pick your key from the box yourself from behind the desk. I had a charger issue and don’t know the town well so had called the new york group for help. They said to have a look around but sorry they have no idea where to go or if there was a charging station in the front of the hotel. I came back in the morning around 8:30 and really needed a charge to start planning the day of travel with my dead phone. I searched the desk and noted the locked doors etc. But there really is no indication or signage saying not to go back there. I wanted to use the computer to see if i could locate the closest CVS to buy a new charger lol. Sadly no guest login. I did however get the help of an older man who told me where i could find the CVS and began to pack up. I then had a knock on the door and was met by the older man and a cell phone on speaker phone. I pretty much got yelled at for being behind the desk and looking in the droor for a possible charging block i could call and borrow for an hour. There is no velvet line telling me it’s a no go area, or signage. Maybe was confused by the gran your own key?

They do not have parking for hotel guests so you have to pay for street parking, so that was an added expense I was not aware of. Plus you can not pay for you street parking in advance, unless you want to pay for a yearly pass, so you have to wake up before 7 AM everyday, and go outside to pay parking or you will get a parking ticket. I also rented a room with no shower or restroom in room by mistake. It was in the fine print. Since they had rooms available with restrooms, I tried to pay difference but manager said I would have to pay for other room and I need to talk to Expedia to get credit on other room. I did not want to deal with that, so I kept room. The shower in the hallway had around a 7” drop to floor and no railing. So not safe at all to step out. I guess Florida does not have ADA laws? The room was clean but this maybe worse mattress I’ve ever seen. It was like a pull out couch mattress with springs. The place is in good location with walking distance to good restaurants and shops. The lady at front desk was great. The place was clean. I flew in on a Friday and left Sunday. So I put up with it, but I do not recommend staying here.

This was just an extremely nice property. The woman at the front was EXTREMELY NICE AND FRIENDLY. The property manager was the same. The room was very nice as well. I highly recommend this property if you want to visit and stay by City Place.

Horrible! No parking! You need to pay $6 for every four hours parking between 7 am and 9 pm. The place also smellls bad despite its efforts. I had 3rd floor walkup for $150. Sure they jacked their hurricane rate! AVOID this hotel is my opinion. One of tge worst hotels ive stayed at in 50 years of travelling the USA and Europe.

The property manager could have been more friendly. The rooms did not have bathrooms, so guests had to use one bathroom to shower and urinate down the hall. The bathrooms looked like gas station washrooms. The rooms were small and smelled musky. I did not stay at the hotel.

I can't recommend against this place enough. There is no parking, only street parking, & that meant having to wake up at 7am to put money on the meter or risk getting a ticket. The air conditioning in my room didn't work, and it was never addressed despite me informing the issue the next day, when i got a message asking how my stay was going (& i was on the 3rd floor with all the heat that rose up). The microwave didn't work, either, and i was forced to throw away the food i couldn't cook. There is no elevator, the stairwell and upper halls are not air conditioned, so if you're staying on an upper floor, it will be like ascensing into hell as you climb the stairs. They also kept my entire security deposit for an issue that was not my fauly & was ultimately a direct resuly of my air conditioning not working properly. Idk how they can charge so much for something so uncomfortable.
