Classic old charm....and I mean lots and loads of charm. Decent free breakfast and on site dinning. In center of village so walking about is a must. We visited to view the stars at Cherry Springs which is 45 minutes away.
The rooms are small compared to most hotels and our bed was a bit soft for me but just right for my partner. I will gladly take a smaller room just to stay at this hotel.
The staff is soo friendly and helpful for directions and recommendations. Place gets a 10 .

Hi David,Thanks for all of yoru wonderful word. When fold like you post wonderful comments, it not only encourages us, it gives us the affirmation we are doing it right. Cherry Springs State Park, known as the darkest skies on the east coast, is a wonderful place to view stars as they were in most areas 50 or more years ago. The milky way stands out, and any planets visible are easy to spot. Did you see all the satellites? Yeah... it's so dark there you can see them with the naked eye.We do hope you'll plan a return trip soon. We would love to have you again!

Hi Kelliann,The Historic Penn Wells Hotel does have a great atmosphere. We're sorry you had to walk a block to the Penn Wells Lodge for breakfast, but with fall foliage being over, our room occupancy falls off significantly during the week, so we serve it at the Penn Wells Lodge. If someone wants to have breakfast at another location in town, the Wellsboro Diner and Harland's Family Style Restaurant are great choices and open early every day.We hope to see you again.

Hi Nancy,'The Historic Penn Wells Hotel'history is amazing, and how it alone affected so much of American history and traditions makes it a real desitnation point for history buffs. Plus, we have kept it as it was, right down to the bathrooms. allowing us to become a treasured member of Historic Hotels of America. From how it helped our communicty ward off the devesataion of the Crash of 1929, to being the headquarters for the extension of Route 6 across the US, it's involvement with the promotion of the Shiny Brite Christmas Tree Ornaments, as well as so much more that not only affected Wellsboro but so many throughout the US, learning and experiencing the Penn Wells Hotel area ll examples of why it was known as "the Gem of the Roosevelt Highway."Please plan a return trip soon!

Hi Gary,We're so happy you had a great experience with us! Keeping an historic structure as it was when last remodeled in 1926 is not easy at all, but our team of housekeepers and maintenance truly do a remarkable job. Thanks so much for your comment and your great score. We hope you'll plan to come back to Wellsboro and the Historic Penn Wells Hotel again!
