Scammer!! Do not stay here!
Posted 18 Jul 2019 on HotelsBE VERY CAREFUL!! Owner fraudulently withheld my £100 deposit!!
I booked a 2 night stay at Upton Road Apartments for my partner and I. Upon arrival the host met us to explain the parking procedure. She handed us the apartment keys, car park entrance fob and a paper parking permit to be displayed on my dashboard. She told us to return the keys and fob in the letterbox when we check out, which we did.
A few days later the host contacted me asking for the parking permit, which I no longer had. She explained that if I do not return the permit, I will be charged a replacement fee of £100 - my entire deposit!
Firstly, it is completely unrealistic and frankly ridiculous that a piece of black and white paper, without holograms or any laminating could possibly cost £100 to replace. Its a simple photocopy.
Secondly, the owner made reference to the contract and charges for loss and/or damage. HOWEVER the contract clearly states that a £100 fee will be charged for lost keys or car park fob. There is NO MENTION of returning the permit OR costs incurred for failing to do so.
After going back and forth with the owner, she continuously refused to return my deposit with NO LEGAL GROUNDS OR BINDING CONTRACT.
Outright fraud!

Frances stayed in our apartment for 2 nights in May. I welcomed her and had nice interactions with them. Everything was great, she even said my apartment was perfect and had a lovely stay. After checking out, I messaged her politely to ask if they have the car park disk. To which she apologetically replied that it's lost and must have been thrown out when she had her car cleaned.
We understand that maybe to her it was just a simple car park disk, but I hope she had taken all the relevant factors regarding my situation into consideration.
The car park disk that was lost was an original, it took 2 weeks for building management to issue a new copy and my guests couldn’t use the car park whilst we were waiting for a re-issue; all of these came at a cost to us. Despite all the inconvenience to our small business, we offered her a partial refund of your deposit. We tried to communicate with her, we responded to her demand email, we offered a money-back on the deposit but she did not reply back. And 2 months later, she decided to review us.

This was a nice apartment in a great location, a very short walk to restaurants and a large supermarket. We got in with a code, which is much less stressful than meeting someone, especially since our flight was very delayed. A parking space is available if needed. Tope was great at communication. The only downside was it was a little tight for 5 people. Would stay here again.

Drinks available in fridge, multiple tv stations, good supply of hot water, secure parking and very central location.
