Room for improvement
Posted 13 Jun 2016 on HotelsService was very lacking, be it at front office or at restaurant.
Quality and choice of food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) may be improved greatly!!!!!
The many number of Staffs working at the beach restaurant more attentive - many stray cats around during meal time....which were a little "disruptive"....
The only retail shop in the hotel needs A major clean-up! Dusty and filthy - uninviting to purchase anything :-((
Wished the manager/staffs working were more professional, welcoming and hospitable in providing a SERVICE.

Dont expect luxury
Posted 14 Mar 2016 on HotelsI expected a luxury complex and was shocked to find an old tired looking place where external areas had peeling paint, large brown patches which should have been green grass - not the green oasis I had seen in photos. Inside the rooms had been renovated a few years ago but my ceiling fan wobbled and was too noisy to use at night and the aircon wasnt very cool.
The waves are so strong I felt like I had been hit by a car and the undertow makes swimming dangerous.
The food was good but not much variety from day to day.
Dont stay here if you are after a hotel. Its better suited to people wanting ayurveda but thats an extra 135 USD a day for 2 hours treatment, lunch and medicine (which is very cheap to buy).

A relaxing getaway.
Posted 2 Aug 2015 on HotelsI had a really relaxing week here and was very impressed by the staff & their wonderful hospitality. I wanted a mix of treatments & exploring Sri Lanka & was able to do that here. Although I was travelling on my own I got to know other guests quickly & everyone was so warm & welcoming. My only slight fault about the hotel was that it is quite out of the way & you need a taxi to get anywhere but that's easy to sort out. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

A True Ayurveda Spa
Posted 30 Jul 2015
Pros: The rooms were nice but a little run down
Cons: I think they need to manage expectations better, and promote themselves only as an Ayurveda Spa and not a regular hotel.
Location: The location was great if you don't want to go our of the hotel. There is nothing close by, and the nearest town is a US$30. taxi drive away.
If you are looking for a true Ayurveda experience this is probably the right place for you, but if you are looking for Ayurveda services within a western style hotel this is not the right place. The location of the hotel is very remote, you cannot walk to any shops, restaurants or sights and the hotel taxi service is very expensive.
The buffet meals in the main restaurant are not up to western standards, while it may not be a total surprise to find that the meat and fish dishes were badly cooked, I was surprised to find a lack of a good curry. Once again the buffet focused on the Ayurveda menu.
Our disappointment was from the fact the hotel's website does identify itself as an Ayurveda spa, but it claims to have a western menu and to be close to amenities. Also it stated that Wi-Fi is available for a charge, but does not mention that you cannot get it in the rooms, and that it has a gym, which is actually a very small room with four cardio machines.
As I said if you want a remote, peaceful spa experience it is probably a good place to go.

Very quite hotel,if you prefer next to beach.

Pros: Friendliness of all the staff. Cleanliness . Walks on the miles of beach.
Cons: Bar by the pool. Cooling fans in the restaurant ,bar and lounge areas. More variety on local food
Location: It is away from the locals and so need transport to go anywhere .nearby visit the Budhist temples. Turtle preservation farm. Fishing harbour close by.
The most quietest hotel we ever visited. On this score it was just heaven. Only saw three children here. Some times pool to ourselves .beach was great but you do get pestered by locals sometime. Food was ok but could do with more local variety.
The only two really complaints are 1) need a bar at the pool side and 2) need cooling fans in the lounge and bar area.
Staff were just fantastic and very helpful.
Transport is available by the hotel but very expensive . If you need to travel locally get a toock toock right out side the hotel but hackle on the price.
We did not go there for the Ayruvedic treatment as this is what the hotel specialises in and so if this is what you intend go for it although very expensive.
We wanted a quite holiday and that's exactly what we got. Very pleased with the outcome.

First Time in Sri Lanka
Posted 12 Oct 2014
Pros: Nice location although the beach is not useable
Cons: the whole place could be rebuilt?
Location: catch the train to Columbo....about 10 pence each way
We arrived on the evening of the 4th for a 5 day stay. At check-in we were asked what treatment package we wanted...we said we might have a one-off massage, and would decide later. The room was clean but a double bed was in fact two singles pushed togther and all the room seemed to have balconies (which we had paid extra for). the breakfat was OK but heavily into the vegitarian side of things and the "western" style buffet was a bit like canteen food.It rained quite a lot which flooded the walkways and made getting around a bit difficult. We feel that if you are into Yoga and having various treatments this would be the place, but it really does need some serious maintenance and refurbishment, and the quality of service is not relected in the cost of the stay!. We decided to leave befor the end of our stay to something more suitable to our requirements

The Perfect Retreat
Posted 10 Oct 2014 on HotelsThis hotel surpassed all my expectations. It is set in a beautiful tropical garden with direct access to the beach. The beachfront restaurant provides a wide variety of food to a very high standard. However, perhaps the best asset of all is the staff who pay so much attention to detail and ensure that guests feel welcome and comfortable. It is stunningly beautiful and amazingly peaceful - a perfect place for those who want to unwind.

Careful while choosing
Posted 2 Oct 2014
Pros: the kindness of the working staff and the people of the reception
Cons: general tip box, improved fitness and less expensive treatment. The treatment should be integrated in the hotel
Location: there are different trips and Buddhist temples
The Indian Ocean is very wild and so the swimming is not recommended. There is a swimming pool available. The Ayurveda treatment is very expensive. The 10 days treatment was as expensive as the flight from and to Dubai with breakfast and dinner. The treatment is 1.30 min.
The transfer from and to the airport is 70 $. The fitness room has 4 machines for cardio-vascularise exercises. Two were not working.
The excursions were also very expensive.
Everybody is expecting tips and there is no general tip box. So the maintenance staff and those with low salary will not get anything.
For relaxation one week is enough, o0therwise there are too many issues which cannot be solved.
