We were lucky enough to be the only guests in resort and on island. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, from just relaxing on the beach right outside our bure to doing daily activities organised by local staff of the resort. Best part was visiting local villages and hanging out with locals. Definitely be back in future. Highly recommend if you need place away from crowds.

Best holiday ever
Posted 22 Oct 2019 on HotelsThe best holiday I've ever had. Drinks are kind of pricey, but that may have to do with being on a remote tropical paradise in the Pacific.

Heven on earth
Posted 24 Apr 2019 on HotelsViwa is heaven on earth. The reefs are the best in yasawa, The service , the food and the accommodations are all top rate. I am well traveled, It is the most romantic and peaceful resort I have ever encountered in addition the resort helps to support a school for island children. During a tour of the school the children gave a wonderful performance. They are careful with the environment. The staff are all happy and wonderful people.. The one issue is that at this time is that they do not have a dive master, so scuba is done at a different resort.

Beautiful & quiet, so-so food & activities
Posted 23 Apr 2019 on HotelsThe good:
-The grounds and buildings are very well-kept, beautiful and comfortable
-The resort is very quiet, especially when it's not at full capacity. We often had the beach and reef to ourselves!
What could be improved:
-The food. Understandably it's a small island with perhaps limited access to ingredients, but this has not been the case at other Fijian resorts we've been to. It's beautifully presented, but you can only have fish, potatoes, capsicum, carrots, and iceberg lettuce so many ways before you tire of it. Especially given the price, we expected more. We also expected more fresh fruit, which you only got if you ordered a fruit plate at breakfast.
-Activities seemed poorly planned and executed. We went on a "history hike" that was supposed to talk about the Fijian history of cannibalism. What we got was a walk past a wall (that was about the extent of the history covered there) and a cliff that slaves were thrown off, which dead-ended when the path we were on was too overgrown to continue. "Fish feeding" was being given a few slices of bread to throw into the water from the beach. Many activities involved opportunities to donate to the local village and school, which is nice but it was often enough that it became uncomfortable. The snorkeling equipment was dirty with grime in the breathing tubes.
-Staff singing was beautiful but seemed tiresome for some staff members.
Overall what made our trip enjoyable was the peace and isolation.

Bula & Greetings
Thank you for your time and review on the resort. Management and Staff have noted them as “constructive”. The first quarter of the year has been quiet, and traditionally a low season period for our Fiji Tourism Industry. We note your comments on the food quality and having a greater variety of vegetables and fresh fruits. Most of the vegs/fruits are from our own home grown organic garden and supplemented with purchase from Viti Levu. We note the diversity, excitement to complement and enhance the dining experience. I am sorry the activities planned was poorly presented and the extent of the history was limited. The “history hike” showcased the old settlement of a tribe, during the days of “tribal wars”. The old fortress was build hand from limestone rocks at the top location where they can sight the incoming making invasion by intruders very difficult. Cannibalism was practise by their chiefs during the days on victory feastings. The Local Community do play an important part of our visitor’s experience and have partnered with the resort since development being the Landowning Community. We are sorry the approach with donations was uncomfortable and will address to avoid further concerns. The funding and donation of books etc., have greatly encouraged the children of the local community, mapping a priority and importance of education especially in remote villages. We note your comments on the snorkelling equipment and check on our normal practice of soaking and washing in sanitizing solution
Thank you again for your review and the “constructive comments”, we will be sharing amongst ourselves with fine tuning

Love Island - Heaven on Earth
Posted 17 Mar 2019 on HotelsA hidden gem. Busy working in partnership with their local villagers, Viwa Resort is continuing sustainable tourism and eco-friendly development (this really does mean no more buildings, cash-catching schemes or stressing wildlife). Probably even more peaceful than it describes in its promotional efforts. Go to be in peace, beauty and nature with fabulous staff - now all great friends.
If looking for glitz, excess, western abuses of everything, please stay away. Do take presents for the village school. Fijian culture abounds with its beautiful goodwill, fun and relentless helpfulness. Great scubering, snorkelling and clear water. Great reefs, beaches, cabins and food. It is isolated, so enjoy it as such, with an occasional shortage - always minor. Aircon, fans, beds, flowers, facilities are great, but the stars are the amazing staff...ceremonies, singing, fun, care. Expect to cry when leaving after their morning songs, dinners on beach under stars and out-of-season great weather.
