Tour this opulent villa on the French Riviera, admire the exquisite interior and take a relaxing walk through the estate’s many exotic gardens.

At Villa Ephrussi see stunning paintings, antique furniture and a collection of rare porcelain. Explore nine themed gardens, including a rose garden, a Florentine garden and a Japanese garden.

Appreciate the remarkable northern façade of the Villa Ephrussi. Made up of four parts, this façade was inspired by Italian palazzo-style architecture. Notice the Gothic-style entrance and Florentine Renaissance-style internal staircase. Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild constructed this wonderful estate in the early 20th century.

On the first floor you will discover the Directoire bedroom and the blue bedroom. Notice the paintings set in panels in the Directoire bedroom, including floral scrolls and exotic animals. See the Pompeian paneling from the late 18th century in the exquisite blue bedroom. Admire the French and Italian antique furniture and the 18th-century Meissen chandelier.

The Villa Ephrussi features a rare collection of porcelain, including many pieces from the esteemed French manufactory Vincennes. View vases dating back to the late 18th century. Discover rare dinner service porcelain, an antique urn and beautiful decorative fruit bowls.

Admire the boudoir, a place where Béatrice wrote and saw her closest friends. Notice the octagon base table, decorated with insect wings and bird feathers. One of the best-known cabinetmakers in the 18th century, Jean-Henri Riesener, constructed the writing desk.

Tour the patio, a place where Béatrice received guests and held receptions. Examine the Italian Renaissance-inspired architecture, with many of the columns made from pink Verona marble.

Walk through the vast themed gardens. Relax in the shaded courtyard of the aromatic Spanish Garden. Notice an assortment of gargoyles and medieval architecture in the stone garden. Spot rare plant life and giant cactus in the exotic garden.

Villa Ephrussi is located about 9 miles (13 kilometers) from Monaco and 6 miles (10 kilometers) from Nice. Tickets include admission and an audio guide. The estate is open year-round however, opening hours depend on the season and change on public holidays. Use free on-site parking.
