Victory Square has long been a meeting place for locals and artisans. Take a guided tour and learn about the origins of the square’s name, which refers to the successful revolt against Romanian Communism in 1989.
Admire the square’s beauty as you stroll along its wide paths. In the center of the square is an exquisite flower display and a picturesque fountain. Photograph the scenery, which is framed by beautiful examples of 1920s architecture in the surrounding façades.
At one end of the plaza, the Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral towers into the sky. Inspect the cathedral's enchanting neo-Moldavian façade, which is enriched by distinct overtones of Byzantine architecture. Victory Square is located in Timisoara’s compact center and can be easily accessed on foot from most of the city’s major attractions. Alternatively, get here by trolleybus, tram or taxi. Victory Square’s nearby attractions include the Habsburg-era Union Square and the Cinema Capitol.
