Hotel Orchidees
Posted 26 May 2022 on HotelsHaving no prior travel to Europe, I felt the hotel, the owners, and the staff went out of their way to ensure our experience was superb. The cuisine was excellent, the rooms were clean, comfortable, and easily accessible. The owners helped us get local information about the region and the Verdun battlefields that we visited. They treated us like relatives from America and thru the use of a translation app, we could talk about our experiences. I believe that when I think of France, every experience will always be compared to my stay in the Hotel Orchidees since they have set the standard for hospitality.

Near Verdun Battlefields
Posted 7 Jul 2019 on HotelsThe staff were friendly and helpful, able to help with English when my basic French couldn’t get me by. Our room was not huge, but we don’t need big rooms for just the two of us. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The hotel is quiet and has a nice territorial view with a pool. It’s within a few minutes drive from the battlefields of Verdun so you’ll be there quickly for touring. It is not in downtown Verdun so if you are looking for a city hotel this one is not for you. But if you’d like a nice, quiet hotel with a fabulous restaurant on site that serves breakfast, too. This is a great choice!

For my purposes - visiting the Verdun WWI sites, the location of the hotel was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful with brochures, advice. Too tired at end of day to go out for dinner. so dined in. It turned into a 2-hour affair - seemed a bit much.

WW1 trip
Posted 6 Nov 2018 on HotelsStayed 2 nights when visiting the WW1 grounds. Very convenient hotel outside downtown with ample parking. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff. However the room was much smaller than I had expected.
