The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was cleaned every day. The bed was extremely comfortable and well made each day. I liked the key pad access so we didn't have to keep up with a key. The room air conditioner was very quiet and cooled the room quickly. Breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed the beautiful pool.

If you want to be in a somewhat remote area this is the place. Our last night on vacation we spent in Liberia & it made us appreciate Drift Away’s quite!

Posted 29 Dec 2019 on HotelsThe communal part are quite limited. The pictures show a rather large bar /breakfast area overlooking the pool which was closed for refurbishment.
Swimming pool very was too.
The place is isolated so in particular for me not having a car was difficult and expensive to move around albeit the owners managed to organise transfers for me and trips

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, Roberta. However, we do feel there are some misunderstandings about our hotel in your review that we would like to address. Our beautiful swimming pool is open daily 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. with pool lounge chairs and umbrellas surrounding the pool. Our juice bar is open every day serving beverages, snacks and smoothies all day and evening. We are improving our grounds and building a larger yoga studio at the moment, however the project has not taken away from our communal space. Our breakfast, lunch and dinner service is located in our tranquil pavilion. Ping pong and billiard tables are available for guest use. We are happy to arrange transportation for guests without a vehicle, and Drift Away is excited to offer daily lunch and dinner services on site so guests can enjoy healthy delicious dinners and lunches without having to travel. (The bar you may be referring to has never been open for guest services and is used strictly for preparing free breakfasts for our guests). It was a pleasure having you as a guest, Roberta, and we sincerely hope your vacation in Costa Rica was memorable and enjoyable!

My stay at Drift Away was fantastic! Lagaritos beach is about a 200m walk through the countryside to a gorgeous and at times completely empty beach. It was breathtaking and convenient.
Paul and Lisa, the managers, as well as the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful to me and other guests. I wanted to learn how to surf. They arranged surf lessons for me at a surf school on Avellanas beach and had a surfboard for me to borrow -- both for free. They also had great advice on restaurants, shops, etc. in the area. The facilities were fantastic and clean. I loved the beautiful pool and landscaping. The covered breakfast and game area was also a great place to hang out at night. They also have a screened building with furniture, games, books and yoga mats. I used that area frequently to read at night. I used it a few times during the day to stretch before surfing and to meditate. I highly recommend Drift Away and hope to return soon.

The property was recently renovated, with updated rooms, bathrooms, and swimming pool. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool. The property was also about a 5-10 minute walk to Playa Lagartillo. We also enjoyed the breakfast, which was sumptuous, served with good variety and great coffee. We also enjoyed the use of the pool table and also the yoga room with board games. Mosquitoes were fairly well controlled, and I see the staff fogging the area of a regular basis. The short road (about 100m) leading up to the property is a bit rough and rocky. A 4x4 is recommended although I would say it's not impossible to get by with a regular car.

What you saw wasn't necessarily fogging - our gardener was treating some insect infested trees with a 100% natural organic and biodegradable product from a company called EcoMist. We are glad you enjoyed our free breakfast and coffee and the other amenities. It was a pleasure having you at our Eco-Lodge and please do return! Pura Vida!
