A really charming hotel, decor is fairly old, but that adds to the charm. Guests mostly of an older generation but everyone was very welcoming of our young family. Rooms spacious and very comfortable. We ate lunch in the restaurant and the food was delicious.

A comfortable old fashioned spa hotel

Posted 20 Oct 2016
Location: A delight
The hotel is handily placed here hours drive from Bilbao and just off the main road from the north coast at a Santander to Madrid. It's a delightful quirky place, a grand spa hotel that's been revived recent years. The welcome is warm, the rooms large and comfortable, and the food good and generous. "

Lovely old hotel / spa, but no internet

Posted 30 Jul 2015 on Hotels
We liked this place a lot. It was an old hotel / spa which probably had its glory days in the 1930’s. (We did not use the spa.) It is located on the edge of a reservoir formed by the damming of the Ebro River, near the Picos de Europa region of Spain. The views were lovely. We used it as a base from which to travel – by car. I imagine that it would be difficult to get to without a car. There was plenty of free parking. The room and bathroom were comfortable and spacious. The hotel restaurant was decent if not spectacular. The whole atmosphere was pleasant. My biggest criticism was the complete lack of Internet service. Perhaps many guests were delighted to be out of contact for a period, but Internet access is important to modern travelers.

Posted 29 Aug 2019 on Hotels
