The best place to stay

Posted 18 Jan 2020 on Hotels
What an amazing place. We loved every minute of our stay here. From the moment we arrived we were treated like family. They gave us a map of the town and marked places to visit and recommended places to eat. The room was amazing. It had a large living area with a fridge and kettle. Our bedroom was upstairs and was huge. It’s in the best location so close to everything. Highly recommend and wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Wonderful find while planning a Chichen Itza visit

Posted 30 May 2019 on Hotels
What a special place to stay!!! It felt like home with the staff being so helpful in checking us in, offering anything we needed and giving wonderful suggestions for the area. We stayed in the fabulous Don Louis room which was very large and comfortable. Each morning we got a new delight for breakfast with a local specialty. Valladolid was our stay when planning our visit to Chichen Itza but the stay was so much more wonderful than we expected. The town square on Sunday evenings is a must!!!. Casa Marlene was so convenient to everything.

This is a quaint renovated colonial house. The reception room is the old living room filled with families snapshots from the 1950;s and earlier. The room, though not luxurious at all and a bit naive in its “hotel decour” has an early twentieth century look to it. Everything looks basic but authentic. What really makes you fall in love with the hotel (more like a bed and breakfast) is the BREAKFAST. The setting, the service and the yucatecan food makes it all worthwhile. Stay here and feel the real Mexico.

An Oasis in Valladolid

Posted 22 Jan 2019 on Hotels
Great hotel and very lovely people. Breakfast in the beautiful inner garden was excellent, and the staff was excellent, friendly, and accommodating. Our room was clean and comfortable. Sunday night in the Plaza was great fun. We visited Casa de Los Venados, a must-see in Valladolid.

Perfect boutique

Very quaint house. Service is very friendly and personalized. A pure boutique hotel feeling. The breakfast was superb. The duplex suite we had with the jacuzzi was really nice. A perfect stay for a typical Mexican experience !

wow what a place

Posted 25 Feb 2018 on Hotels
this Casa was amazing, not much to look at from the road BUT, inside is an oasis. lots of foliage , a grand entrance hall and lounge area.. the room was large, with a marble jacuzzi too , just a few steps from the pool.the breakfast was varied with a chef's local choice to try, fantastic, and as many coursed as you liked. the waiter was very attentive, knowledgeable ,happy and was a delight.in fact all the staff were brilliant. we met the owner of this small 6(?) bedroom place and we could tell we were having a great time. wish we had stayed longer. a note for the lady receptionist upon arrival who was a very efficient, pleasant and enthusiastic about our stay.

Oasis in the heat

Posted 23 Feb 2018
Pros: Staff, food and garden.
Cons: If they served dinner as well that would have been even better as we were there during Carnival and it was pretty busy.
Location: Brilliant location only 100m from the main square and 200m from the Cenote.
We stayed in Valladolid for a couple of nights to allow an early morning visit to Chichen Itza. The temperature was in the mid-thirties so pretty warm for us cold blooded Brits! After a great morning wandering around Chichen Itza it was lovely to come back to the middle of the city and have the beautiful garden and cool pool at Casa Marlene. The breakfast was great cooked freshly each morning and the staff were really helpful.

Lovely gem

Posted 7 Jan 2018 on Hotels
This place is a gem. I wanted an authentic Mexican experience and am fortunate to have stayed here. Walking distance to the square. Ample parking behind Burger King. The owner greeted us for breakfast and even helped carry luggage to our car. This is a very special place.
