What a hidden (in plain sight) gem of a motel! We've always been reluctant to stay at roadside motels, but The Coach House Motel is not your regular roadside motel. The owners have taken great care of this place.
My first impression of it was that it was a bit dated (orange carpets, 1970s bedspreads), but that is easily overlooked because the rooms are so clean. I have rarely ever stayed in such a clean and well-cared for place. Although there is no air conditioning, the windows were wide open when we arrived and there was a nice breeze flowing through out room. Everything sparkled in the room, it was that clean -- even the window casings were dirt free! There wasn't a speck of dirt anywhere. The carpets were clean and the bed was very comfortable. We slept well. The yard is very well kept and we appreciated the owners sharing with us that there is a quiet lake just 200m away. We happily spent a few hours exploring the lake (which we had all to ourselves).
There is no restaurant or shops nearby as it's 20 km outside of Terrance Bay, so it's best if you stop to eat first, or bring your own food. The room has a fridge (which was turned on and cold upon our arrival), a microwave, and a coffee maker.
If you are looking for a well taken care of motel just outside of Terrace Bay, then look no further! This is a gem of a place and we will be back to stay when we travel on the TransCanada again.
