"We got such a warm welcome when we arrived. The hotel is lovely- the opposite of most Scandinavian decor hotels which are all wood and minimalist. This was even more perfectly cozy and enveloping because it is winter. Our room was spacious and well lit. There was radiant heat in the bathroom so the floors were toasty. "First off, it’s a gorgeous building in the perfect location in Bergen. The Freschohalle and BARE are both exceptional, and the staff are great. There were some several minor room issues to point out however. We had a loft suite. If you are more than about 180cm/70in, don’t get a loft suite. You have to duck everywhere. The shower is open to the whole bathroom, so water gets everywhere. There is also a lack of space to place anything in the bathroom. The plugs aren’t in particularly convenient...

"Great location. I love the onsite evening restaurant/bar. They just redid the interior of the restaurant. The food is good but a little inconsistent. I had the "chef special" mushroom and blue cheese soup twice in 3 days and the first time it was amazing while the second time it was flat with odd additions (I think it was daikon - a flavourless and odd texture in a creamy mushroom soup). Overall, a cozy place worth a visit."

"After a LONG trip, we dragged into the lobby and Inga was amazing. She upgraded our room (to Accessible - we're old and must have looked awful) with a view over the harbor to Bryggen. The room was quiet, spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was extensive and very good quality with relaxed seating. Central location made extensive walks around the city very comfortable. Happily booked another two nights to recover after our 12-day Hurtigruten voyage."

"Fabulous hotel with friendly staff and comfortable rooms. We were looked after by Helena, who was very friendly and helpful, a real credit to the hotel. We would recommend staying here if you are on a Hurtigruten trip as it is very close to the terminal, walking distance with a case, and the rooms are reasonably priced. "

Perfect for a weekend in Bergen

"Very easy check in and checkout process. Nice little area with kettle/microwave in which came in handy for me. Very close to the light rail which you need to travel into Bergen but perfect for the airport as well. Clean rooms and didn’t hear too much noise - highly recommended"
