Rooms smelled like smoke, bathroom was not clean - one of our rooms had a broken faucet and leaky toilet. Checking in was weird, staff didn't give me a key or tell me the room number just the floor and when I got there another staff told a local man what room, no wifi code etc. Later on I went back to the front desk the staff was helpful though. But since there was a holiday the restaurant incl. room service was unavailable with little eating options nearby.

The reception and staff were pleasent but I would not recommend this hotel. The room was not clean. The bathroom was dated with a hole in the wall. The shower was unusable as the drain didn't function. The safe in the room didn't work. The location is nothing special and not near the main square or any other main tourist attractions. For the price - which is high by Ulaanbaatar standards - this is not a hotel I would recommend. You can find others half the price with better facilities.

New West Hotel
Posted 24 Aug 2017Pleasant stay, about 30 minute walk into centre of town. Staff were extremely helpful especially Bilguun the receptionist. However we were on the 4th floor and there is no lift, also we had no hot water in the hotel as we were told a pipe had burst? No worries didn't seem to bother them this small detail. Plenty of eateries nearby, and buses into town out the front.
